What changes for you
- You'll find the right size for every project – because the octagons are available from 1 x 1 cm to 60 x 60 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can get started straight away with painting, decorating or writing on them – because the wood is untreated and takes paint, varnish and oil well.
- Your pieces look neat from the very start – thanks to smooth, laser-cut edges, there's no need for sanding.
- You can lay out patterns that fit together – because all the octagons are cut to exactly the same shape and line up neatly.
- You can relax when crafting with children too – the smooth edges feel comfortable in small hands.
Why these wooden octagons make a difference every day
An octagon is more than a rectangle with its corners cut off: it fits together into patterns that look calm and orderly without being boring. Whether as table scatter on a festive table, as a tiled arrangement on the wall or as the base for a lettered name tag – the shape brings structure to your decorations. And because the wood is left natural, you decide how the finished result looks.
Material & finish
The octagons are made from 3 mm thick plywood and laser-cut in Bütic's own production in Pößneck. That is where the typical brown edge comes from. It gives every cutout its characteristic look. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so you can carry on working straight away. Wood is a purely natural material. Lightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. This makes every octagon one of a kind and is not a flaw.

- Crafting with children: each child paints their own octagon – and in the end, a colourful garland of little works of art hangs in the window.
- Making Christmas decorations: decorate small octagons with designs, thread a ribbon through – and this year your tree wears handmade ornaments.
- For gifts of money: a lettered octagon as a tag turns an envelope into a lovingly made surprise.
- As table decoration and table scatter: small octagons spread between plates and candles make the table look well thought out without being cluttered.
- In model making: precisely fitting shapes in exactly the size you need save you cutting and finishing work.
- In a café or at a market stall: lettered octagons as price or variety labels give your counter a consistent, natural look – and they're quickly swapped when your range changes.
Good to know about the octagon
Since antiquity, the octagon has been seen as a link between the square and the circle. That is why you find it in baptisteries, pavilions and classic tile patterns. This same quality makes the octagon so popular for crafting. You can lay it out in calm, flat patterns. It fits into larger surfaces more organically than a simple rectangle.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: store the untreated cutouts in a dry place and avoid constant moisture, and they'll keep their shape. If you'd like to protect the surface or add colour, you can paint, oil or varnish them as you like.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the octagons? Yes. The wood is untreated and can be painted, oiled, decorated or written on.
Why do the cutouts have a brown edge? The octagons are laser-cut – the brown edge is created during cutting and is part of their typical look.
Do all the octagons look the same? The shape is identical, but the look of the wood isn't: grain, shade and small knots vary because wood is a natural material – every piece is unique.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. Thanks to laser cutting, the edges are smooth and cleanly finished.
In the end, it's not about a piece of plywood. It's about the moment when a simple shape becomes your own idea – painted, decorated, given as a gift or scattered across the table. Simply choose the size and quantity that suit your project.
