Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The christening card is written and the gift table is almost ready. Only a wooden anchor is missing. Why this wooden anchor makes a difference every day
Homemade decorations always tell a little story. Your guests notice this when the painted anchor sits at their place or decorates the money gift. Instead of random shop-bought decorations, you create something that suits your occasion and your home. And if you have ever searched for how to make a wooden anchor yourself, you know: with a ready-cut blank, you have more time for the fun part – decorating.
Material & finish
The anchor is made of 3 mm thick plywood and is laser-cut. This gives it smooth edges with the typical light brown rim. The rim gives the motif a clear outline. The wood is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue or oil well. As a natural material, every piece shows its own grain. Brightness and texture vary slightly, and small knots may occur. This makes every anchor one of a kind, not faulty.

How to use your wooden anchor
- Crafting with children at the kitchen table: everyone paints their own anchor. In the end, a small maritime garland hangs in the children's room.
- For a christening, First Communion or confirmation: you write the name and date on the anchor. The table decoration keeps these details for good.
- For making money gifts: attach the notes to the anchor and add a string. The envelope becomes a gift people remember.
- In a café, fish restaurant or at a market stall: large anchors on the counter or in the shop window show a maritime theme throughout. Setting them up takes little effort.
- As table scatter on the buffet or festive table: spread small 3–5 cm anchors between plates and candles. The table instantly looks lovingly decorated.
Good to know about the anchor
The anchor has been a symbol of hope, support and faithfulness since ancient times. In Christian tradition it stands for confidence. That is why it is one of the classic symbols of faith, alongside the cross and the heart. So the motif suits not only maritime decorations. It also works well for a christening, First Communion, confirmation or as a good-luck charm for a farewell.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, store the anchor in a dry place and protect it from constant moisture. If you want to use it outdoors, a coat of paint or oil helps. This keeps the motif looking good for a long time.
