The christening card is written and the gift table is almost ready. Only a wooden anchor is missing. A wooden anchor made of untreated plywood is just right for this. You paint it, stick things on it or write on it to suit your occasion. A plain wooden cutout becomes your very own decoration. Use it on the windowsill, for a money gift or at the craft table with the children.

What changes for you

  • You design your decoration yourself instead of searching for a ready-made piece. The wood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, oil it or coat it.
  • You will find the right size for every idea. The anchor is available from 3 cm to 50 cm in height, in 1 cm steps. Choose a small piece of table scatter or a large wall motif.
  • You can start straight away, with no sanding or finishing. The edges are laser-cut and smooth.
  • Larger projects are easy to plan. You can get the anchor singly or in a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
  • You are holding a neatly made piece from our own production at Bütic in Pößneck. Made in Thuringia.

Why this wooden anchor makes a difference every day

Homemade decorations always tell a little story. Your guests notice this when the painted anchor sits at their place or decorates the money gift. Instead of random shop-bought decorations, you create something that suits your occasion and your home. And if you have ever searched for how to make a wooden anchor yourself, you know: with a ready-cut blank, you have more time for the fun part – decorating.

Material & finish

The anchor is made of 3 mm thick plywood and is laser-cut. This gives it smooth edges with the typical light brown rim. The rim gives the motif a clear outline. The wood is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue or oil well. As a natural material, every piece shows its own grain. Brightness and texture vary slightly, and small knots may occur. This makes every anchor one of a kind, not faulty.

How to use your wooden anchor

  • Crafting with children at the kitchen table: everyone paints their own anchor. In the end, a small maritime garland hangs in the children's room.
  • For a christening, First Communion or confirmation: you write the name and date on the anchor. The table decoration keeps these details for good.
  • For making money gifts: attach the notes to the anchor and add a string. The envelope becomes a gift people remember.
  • In a café, fish restaurant or at a market stall: large anchors on the counter or in the shop window show a maritime theme throughout. Setting them up takes little effort.
  • As table scatter on the buffet or festive table: spread small 3–5 cm anchors between plates and candles. The table instantly looks lovingly decorated.

Good to know about the anchor

The anchor has been a symbol of hope, support and faithfulness since ancient times. In Christian tradition it stands for confidence. That is why it is one of the classic symbols of faith, alongside the cross and the heart. So the motif suits not only maritime decorations. It also works well for a christening, First Communion, confirmation or as a good-luck charm for a farewell.

Care & durability

There is not much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, store the anchor in a dry place and protect it from constant moisture. If you want to use it outdoors, a coat of paint or oil helps. This keeps the motif looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the anchor or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can coat it, paint it, stick things on it or oil it. It is ideal for your own craft projects.

Do I need to sand the edges? No. The anchor is laser-cut and has smooth edges, so you can start decorating straight away. The light brown rim is typical of laser cutting.

Why don't all the anchors look exactly the same? Wood is a natural material. Brightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. Every piece is one of a kind.

How wide is the anchor at my chosen height? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 8.5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.

A wooden cutout is only the starting point. Then comes the moment your own anchor sits on the gift and you realise: no shop could have offered this. Just choose the size and quantity – and get started.

Sellers in such a situation are required to offer free repair or free replacement; in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement. Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.
