The children's party is just around the corner. The christening card is waiting to be lovingly decorated. Or the nursery still needs that final detail. And you're missing a motif that makes children's eyes light up straight away. This is where the wooden bear cub comes in. It's a finely laser-cut plywood silhouette, made for your next craft idea. Painted, decorated or left natural – the blank cutout becomes your finished decoration.

What changes for you

  • You can start straight away, with no sawing or sanding. The bear cub arrives ready laser-cut with smooth edges.
  • Your decoration can be as individual as your occasion. The untreated wood can be painted, decorated, oiled or simply left natural.
  • You'll find the right size for every project, from a small scatter piece to a large wall piece. Choose any width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You save time and money on bigger projects – because you can order the design individually or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
  • You are holding a piece of honest handiwork – made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden bear cub makes a difference in everyday life

A motif made of real wood feels different from printed paper or plastic. It's warmer and calmer, with a surface you can feel. Your crafts, cards and decorations gain texture and depth that you can see and touch. And because you decide on the size and design yourself, you end up with something that exists only once.

Material & finish

The bear cub is made of 3 mm thick plywood and is laser-cut. This gives it smooth, clean edges and the typical brown rim that outlines the motif finely. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So it takes paint, glue and oil reliably. Wood is a natural material and is never completely uniform. Variations in shade, fine structures in the grain and small knots are normal. They make each piece one of a kind and are not a defect.

How to use the wooden bear cub

  • Crafting with children: each child paints their own bear. At the end of the afternoon, they proudly take home a keepsake they designed themselves.
  • For a birth or christening: small bears on cards, on gifts or as table scatter. The celebration gets one consistent, loving motif.
  • In the nursery: a large bear, 40 or 50 cm wide, painted in their favourite colours, on the wall or on a shelf. A motif that grows with your child.
  • For nurseries, schools or craft classes: with a set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, every group has identical blanks. You can plan your project with no cutting and no hassle over materials.
  • In a shop or café: bears with lettering as tags on gift bags or as seasonal window decorations. They're quick to prepare and easy for your customers to see.

Good to know about bears

The bear has always stood for strength and security. It's no coincidence that the teddy bear has been young children's favourite companion for over a hundred years. That's why the bear cub suits occasions centred on children so well: a birth, a christening, a birthday or as a motif in the nursery.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Because the wood is untreated, simply store the cutout in a dry place and protect it from constant moisture. If you paint, oil or varnish it, you also seal the surface. That way your bear cub stays looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the bear cub? Yes. The plywood is untreated and takes paint, glue and oil well. You can coat, paint, decorate or oil it.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The motif is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that finely frames the silhouette. At the same time, the edges are smooth and clean.

How tall is the bear at a given width? As a guide: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 6 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.

Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it shows variations in shade, fine grain and occasionally small knots. Each piece is one of a kind.

This wooden cutout is made for a special moment. The moment a child holds the bear they painted themselves. Or when your guests stop at the christening decorations and smile. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
