Material & finish

The heart is made from 3 mm plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. This gives it the characteristic brown edge and smooth edges. They feel pleasant to the touch and are easy to paint cleanly. The wood is completely untreated, neither lacquered nor glazed. So paints, glues and oils adhere directly, without sanding. And because wood is a natural material, every heart turns out slightly differently. Some are lighter, some darker. Each has its own grain and occasionally small knots. That makes every piece unique – it is not a flaw.

Is the wood treated? No, the plywood is untreated, neither lacquered nor glazed. You can paint it, write on it, stick things on, coat it or oil it straight away.

Where does the brown edge come from? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of laser-cut wood. It looks like a fine, natural border and also ensures smooth edges.

Can I use the heart outdoors? Yes. For permanent use outdoors or in damp soil, we recommend a protective coating, as untreated wood absorbs moisture.

Do all hearts look the same? Wood is a natural material: shade and grain vary, and small knots may occur. This is not a fault. It makes every heart unique.
