Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The home bar is stocked and the shop window is almost done. Only a matching wooden motif on the theme of drinks is still missing. This wooden cognac glass is made for exactly that idea. It is a flat wooden cutout in the classic snifter shape, and you design it just the way you like. Whether you want to decorate it, paint it or write on it, the natural wood readily takes paint, glue and oil.
What changes for you
- You can start on your craft idea straight away, with no preparation. The plywood is untreated, so you can glue things on, paint it or oil it.
- Your motif fits exactly where you need it, from a small gift card to a counter sign. You can choose any height from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can carry on working without sanding. The laser-cut edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
- The typical brown laser edge finely traces the outline of the glass, even without any paint.
- You can kit out larger projects in one go – individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
Why this wooden cognac glass makes a difference in everyday use
A printed sign can easily look generic. A motif made of real wood makes your decoration feel warm and individual straight away. At the bar, in the shop window or on a gift, the snifter shape shows at first glance what it is about: enjoyment, raising a glass, a good moment. And because you decide on the size and design yourself, the decoration shows your own style rather than looking mass-produced.
Material & finish
The cutout is made of 3 mm poplar plywood and laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so you can pick it up and start designing straight away. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. This means paints, pens and glue adhere reliably. As a natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Differences in shade, fine structures in the grain and small knots are normal. They make every piece unique and are not a defect.

How to use the cognac glass
- Crafting with children or at your own craft table: paint it, stick things on it, write on it – and the plain cutout becomes a personalised sign for your home bar.
- Making money gifts for a milestone birthday: pop a folded banknote in the “glass” and add a short message – and the gift has a motif that suits the occasion.
- Making Christmas decorations for the festive table: put a small cognac glass with a name at each place – and your guests will find their seats with a smile.
- As a homemade Father's Day gift: with a name and year written on it, the cutout becomes a small keepsake with its own spot on the bar shelf.
- In cafés, restaurants or wine shops: as a sign on the counter or in the shop window, the wooden motif points to your spirits or drinks offers. It is sturdier than a printed sheet of paper and quick to swap.
- At the weekly market or a tasting: written on with a chalk pen, the large cutout becomes a price sign that suits your range.
Good to know about the cognac glass
The cognac glass doesn't have its rounded shape and narrower opening just for looks. The shape concentrates the aromas of the brandy above the glass. The brandy is named after the French town of Cognac. That is why the silhouette still stands for enjoyment today. It makes the cutout a fitting motif for a bar, a tasting or a gift for connoisseurs.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated cutout dry and away from constant moisture, and it will keep its shape and look good for a long time. If you want to make it more durable, you can simply paint or oil it.
