Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Your theatre group's opening night is coming up and the stage set needs its finishing touches. Or you're looking for a motif that says "theatre" at first glance on an invitation. The wooden drama mask is made for moments like these. It's a clear plywood silhouette that you can paint, decorate and design just the way you like. A simple cutout becomes decoration people instantly recognise. Use it for crafts at home, on stage, for your club or in a shop window.
What changes for you
- You design the motif exactly as your project needs. The wood is untreated, so you can paint it, glue things on, varnish it or oil it.
- Your decorations look neat and well planned, not hand-cut. That's thanks to the smooth laser-cut edges with their typical brown rim.
- You'll find the right size for every project, from a small card motif to a large wall piece. The height can be chosen from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Kit out bigger projects too, such as theatre decorations or group crafts with children. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 save you placing several orders.
Why this wooden drama mask makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut motif takes care of the most tedious part for you: sawing it out neatly. You go straight to the fun part – the designing. And you still get a result that looks carefully made on stage, on a pinboard or on a gift. That's how a craft idea turns into finished decoration in no time.
Material & finish
The drama mask is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives smooth edges that need no sanding. It also creates the distinctive brown rim that outlines the motif. The wood is left untreated, not lacquered or glazed. Paints, glues and oils stick directly to the surface. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a natural material, so the shade and grain always vary a little. Small knots are part of it too. That's what makes each piece one of a kind.

How to use the drama mask
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own mask. In the end, a colourful gallery of characters hangs in the classroom or bedroom.
- For your theatre group: Put large masks on the stage, at the entrance or on a display board. Your guests will know what's on the moment they walk in.
- On invitations and gifts: Glue on a small mask or tuck one in. A card or voucher for theatre fans becomes a gift you've designed yourself.
- In a shop window or café: Arrange several masks in different sizes. Your display for a culture week or premiere is decorated in a few minutes.
- As homemade Christmas decorations: Paint the masks, hang them up or add them to a money gift. You'll be giving something that definitely didn't come off a shelf.
Good to know about the drama mask
The drama mask dates back to the theatre of ancient Greece. There, masks helped actors make roles and emotions visible from far away. To this day, the pair of laughing and crying masks stands for comedy and tragedy. That's why the silhouette suits theatre performances, school projects, club anniversaries and gifts for anyone who loves the stage.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated mask dry and away from constant moisture. This keeps the wood stable and the surface ready for paint and glue. If you varnish or oil it, you decide how durable and vivid it becomes.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood already treated? No, the mask is untreated, neither lacquered nor glazed. You can paint it, glue things on, varnish it or oil it straight away.
Where does the brown rim come from? It's created when the cutout is lasered. It's part of the process and gives the silhouette a clear, dark outline.
How wide is the mask? Width and height are the same. If you choose a height of 10 cm, the mask is also 10 cm wide.
Do all masks look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, plywood varies in shade and grain and sometimes has small knots. This makes every piece one of a kind.
A wooden cutout is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your own mask hangs on the stage wall. Before the curtain even rises, the audience can tell it was prepared with love. Just choose your height and quantity – and get started.
