It gets dark early outside. Indoors, craft paper is spread out on the table. And you still need a motif that brings winter into the house. This wooden polar bear is made for exactly that. It's a clear plywood silhouette, untreated and ready for your ideas. Painted, decorated or left natural – the simple cutout becomes your very own winter piece.

What changes for you

  • You can design the polar bear just the way you like. The wood is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it.
  • You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small table scatter piece to a large window picture. You can choose any width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can craft with kids in peace, without catching on rough spots. The laser cut leaves smooth edges.
  • For bigger projects, such as Christmas decorations or a homemade advent calendar, you'll have plenty of material. The polar bear also comes in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this wooden polar bear makes a difference every day

A motif made of real wood feels different from plastic or paper decorations. It's calmer, warmer and more natural. As a polar bear decoration, the silhouette brings a wintry mood to your windowsill, table or counter. It does so without being intrusive. And because you do the designing yourself, the result suits your home rather than some passing trend.

Material & finish

The polar bear is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. It's made in our own Bütic production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives clean, smooth edges. It also leaves the typical brown edge, which gives the silhouette a fine outline. The wood stays untreated – neither varnished nor glazed. That's why it takes paint, glue and oils well. Wood is a natural material, so every piece is unique. Different shades, small knots and fine structures in the grain are all part of it.

How to use your wooden polar bear

  • Crafting with children on an Advent Sunday: everyone paints their own polar bear. By evening, a whole family of polar bears is hanging in the window.
  • As table scatter for your Christmas table: spread small polar bears between plates and candles. Your table tells a winter story before the meal even begins.
  • Making an advent calendar: number 24 small polar bears and use them as tags for the little bags. Opening one each morning becomes a bit more special.
  • For window pictures in the cold season: put a polar bear family in different sizes in your window. The view outside instantly looks like a little polar landscape.
  • In a café, bakery or shop window: large cutouts up to 50 cm wide show off your winter range. They're quick to set up and easy to swap with the seasons. Afterwards, they store away without taking up much space.

Good to know about the polar bear

Hardly any animal stands for snow, ice and winter as clearly as the polar bear. Unlike purely Christmassy symbols, it fits from the first Sunday of Advent well into February. So your winter decorations can stay up a little longer.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated cutout dry and protect it from constant moisture. Then you'll enjoy it for many winters. If you'd like a more durable surface, you can paint, oil or varnish the wood as you wish.

Options & what's included

  • Width of your choice: 3 cm to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • The wooden cutout is supplied in its natural form, without paint or any other decoration

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the polar bear? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it – whatever your idea.

Where does the brown edge come from? The polar bear is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that finely frames the silhouette. It isn't a flaw – it's simply part of laser cutting.

Are differences in the wood normal? Yes. Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That's exactly what makes every cutout unique.

How tall is the polar bear at a given width? As a guide: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 6 cm. Other sizes follow the same ratio.

Can I use the polar bear outdoors? The wood is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. For outdoor use, we recommend painting, oiling or varnishing the surface first.

What you're really getting is more than a wooden cutout. It's an afternoon of painting and laughing at the kitchen table. And it's the moment the finished polar bear finds its place in the window. Just choose your size and quantity. You'll design the rest.
