Why this wooden kingfisher makes a difference every day
A ready-made decoration is nice. But a blank you design yourself tells your own story. The kingfisher brings a bit of nature to your windowsill, wall or gift, without being too much. You choose the size and the design yourself. So it fits into your home instead of just sitting in it.
Material & finish
The kingfisher is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge. The edge frames the silhouette and gives the design a clear outline. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean. The wood stays untreated, so it is neither varnished nor stained. Wood is a purely natural material. It varies in shade, has its own grain and may have small knots. That makes every piece unique – not a flaw, just character.

- When wrapping presents: Tie a small kingfisher to the ribbon instead of the usual bow. Your gift stands out on the present table straight away.
- In spring and summer decorations: Combine several sizes on a shelf or windowsill. The room feels lively without looking cluttered.
- In a café or at a market stall: Painted kingfishers on the counter or in the shop window. It's a lovingly presented decoration. Thanks to the sets, you can put it together quickly and consistently.
- In schools, nurseries or craft groups: With the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you have identical blanks for every participant. No sawing needed.
Good to know about the kingfisher
The kingfisher is often called a “flying jewel” because of its bright blue and orange feathers. That makes it a rewarding design for crafts. Just two strong colours give the blank a bold look. Use it for window decorations, in a child's room or as a small gift for nature lovers.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Indoors, the untreated kingfisher stays looking good for a long time if kept dry. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to use it outdoors, simply protect the wood with paint, varnish or oil. Then you'll enjoy your decoration for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the kingfisher or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated and can be painted, decorated with stickers, coated or oiled. Paint sticks well to the natural surface.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The kingfisher is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that neatly frames the silhouette. The edges are smooth.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't. As a natural material, it varies in shade and has its own grain, sometimes with small knots. Every piece is unique.
How wide is the kingfisher at the height I want? The proportions stay the same. At a height of 10 cm, the width is 7 cm. From this, you can work out the width for any other height.
Is the kingfisher suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it belongs in a dry indoor space. Protected with varnish, paint or oil, you can also use it outdoors.
A wooden cutout is only the start. Then comes the moment your own kingfisher hangs in the window and you think: I made that. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
