A few magpies in the window, on an autumn wreath or as table scatter at a coffee party. Your home instantly looks lovingly decorated. The wooden magpie made of plywood is ideal for this. It's a clear bird silhouette. You can paint it, decorate it or simply use it as it is. Whether you craft on your own or with children, this plain cutout quickly becomes your own decoration.

What changes for you

  • You can follow your own ideas. The wood is untreated, so you can decorate, paint, coat or oil it.
  • You get exactly the size that suits your project. You can choose the width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • No sanding needed. The laser cut leaves smooth edges that don't splinter.
  • You can easily supply larger craft groups or decorating projects. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are available.
  • This is a piece of craftsmanship from Germany. It's made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden magpie makes a difference

Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. With the wooden magpie, you create something that shows your own style. Think autumn window pictures or table decorations for your next family celebration. The bird is a rewarding motif for crafting with children. The shape is instantly recognisable. And every painted magpie turns out differently. An afternoon at the kitchen table gives you decorations you'll enjoy for a long time.

Material & finish

The magpie is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. It has the brown edge typical of laser cutting. This edge frames the silhouette and gives the motif a clear outline. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean. So you can start decorating straight away. Wood is a natural material. Its shade varies, the grain shows fine patterns and there may be small knots. This makes every piece one of a kind. It's not a flaw, just the nature of wood.

How to use the wooden magpie

  • Crafting with children: Each child paints their own bird. In the end, a little flock of magpies hangs in the window, and everyone is proud of it.
  • For your autumn decorations: Arrange a few magpies on a wreath or branch. The season has clearly arrived in your home.
  • As table scatter at a coffee party: Place small magpies between plates and candles. Your table is decorated in just a few steps.
  • At nursery, school or craft club: A set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces gives the whole group the same motif. No cutting needed.
  • For shop windows and shop decorations: At 30 to 50 cm wide, the magpie makes a clear seasonal motif. It's quick to put up and just as quick to change.

Good to know about the magpie

Folklore says the magpie loves shiny things. Rossini's opera "The Thieving Magpie" made this reputation famous. You're welcome to pick up on this when decorating. With a little glitter, metallic paint or a shiny bead, the plain silhouette becomes a striking figure for autumn and nature decorations.

Care & durability

Care is simple. Indoors, an occasional dusting is enough. The wood is untreated, so avoid constant moisture. If you'd like to use the magpie outdoors, give it a protective finish yourself with paint, varnish or oil.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the wooden magpie? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, decorate it, glue things on or oil it. Paint sticks directly to the natural surface.

Why does the magpie have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this cutting method. It also gives you smooth edges without splinters.

How tall is the magpie at the width I choose? The height increases in proportion to the width. For reference: at 10 cm wide, the height is 5.5 cm.

Do all the magpies look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, its shade varies. It may show fine patterns or small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

Is the magpie suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it's intended for indoor use. You can prepare it for outdoors with your own coat of varnish or oil.

What counts is the moment you hang your own magpie in the window. Your home becomes a little more your own. Simply choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
