Material & finish

The boy angel is laser-cut in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia, from 3 mm poplar plywood. Laser cutting creates smooth edges and the typical brown rim that frames the silhouette. Nothing frays and nothing needs finishing. The top side has fine contour scoring with the face and details. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That makes it ideal for painting and decorating. As a natural material, every piece has its own shade, small differences in the grain or tiny knots. This is not a flaw. It is what makes every angel one of a kind.

Can I paint the angel or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint it, decorate it with glue, coat it or oil it.

Why does the angel have a brown rim? The rim is created during laser cutting and is typical of this cutting method. It also gives smooth edges with no finishing needed.

Do all the angels look exactly the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, every piece has its own shade and grain, and sometimes small knots. Each one is unique.

Is the angel designed on both sides? No. The contour scoring with the face and details is on the top side. The underside is left natural.

Is the angel suitable for outdoor use? The wood is untreated and should be protected from lasting moisture. For sheltered outdoor areas, we recommend sealing it yourself, for example with varnish or oil.
