Spring is just around the corner. Your craft supplies are already on the table. Now you just need the right shape to turn paint, glue and a few ideas into real decorations. A wooden duck in untreated plywood is made for this. It has a clear silhouette with a face already marked on it, and you decorate it exactly the way you like. A simple afternoon becomes a decoration that is truly your own.

What changes for you

  • You can start straight away, with no sanding or preparation. The duck is laser-cut and has smooth edges.
  • Your decoration looks finished from the start. The face and outlines are already marked with fine cut lines.
  • You are free to design it as you wish. The untreated wood takes paint, oil and glue. Paint it, decorate it or leave it natural – it's up to you.
  • You'll find exactly the size your project needs. Choose from 5 cm for table scatter to 50 cm for the shop window, in 1 cm steps.
  • For larger projects, you get all your figures from one supplier. Sets come with 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.

Why this wooden duck makes a difference in everyday life

Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. A duck you design yourself tells your own story. Use it as a spring greeting on the windowsill, as a hand-painted table decoration or as a craft project with children. You can paint, decorate and write on the untreated plywood. There's no need to sand or prime it first. And because you choose the size, the duck fits exactly where you want it.

Material & finish

The duck is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical brown edge, so the silhouette looks clean and finished. The top shows the fine outline cut lines with the face. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated – neither varnished nor stained. This makes it easy to paint, oil or decorate. Every duck is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a natural material and is never completely uniform. Different shades, fine textures in the grain and small knots are normal. This makes every piece one of a kind.

How to use the wooden duck

  • Crafting with children: Each child paints their own duck. In the end, a whole colourful duck family swims across the windowsill.
  • For spring and Easter decorations: Arrange a few small ducks between twigs and eggs. Your table gets a fresh seasonal look with little effort.
  • As table scatter or tags: Write on or decorate the small sizes. This way you can personalise your gifts, place cards or christening presents.
  • In nurseries, schools or craft classes: With sets of 10 or more, you have identical blanks for the whole group. Everyone starts the same, and every result turns out different.
  • In the shop window or at a market stall: A large duck up to 50 cm tall gets noticed. It gives your seasonal display a clear centrepiece. Leave it natural or paint it in your shop colours.

Good to know about ducks

Few animals are as familiar to children as the duck. In Germany, this is partly thanks to the song “Alle meine Entchen”, one of the best-known German children's songs. That's why the shape works so well for craft projects with children. It is also ideal for children's room decorations or as a gift tag for a birth or christening.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated duck dry and avoid constant moisture. That way the wood keeps its natural look for a long time. If you want to use it outdoors, a suitable paint or wood stain will give the wood extra protection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the wooden duck? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint, decorate, coat or oil it – just as you like.

Why does the duck have a brown edge? The duck is laser-cut. The brown edge forms naturally during cutting and is part of the silhouette's typical look.

Are both sides the same? No. The top has the outline cut lines with the face. The underside is left natural and smooth.

How wide is the duck at the height I choose? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 8 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.

Why does each duck look slightly different? Wood is a natural material. Different shades, fine grain and small knots are normal and make every piece unique.

What counts is the moment your own duck sits on the windowsill. You look at it and think: there isn't another one quite like it. Just choose your size and get started.
