Autumn is just around the corner. The windowsill still looks a little bare. And you're looking for a motif that brings a bit of the woods into the children's room, onto the table or to the window. This wooden owl for crafting and decorating is just right for that. It's a flying owl as a plywood silhouette, with a finely lasered face and contours. Hang it up plain or paint it together with the children. Either way, a simple wooden cutout becomes a decoration that is all your own.

What changes for you

  • You can design the owl exactly the way you like. The wood is untreated, so you can decorate it with stickers, paint it, coat it or oil it.
  • Your motif already looks finished and lively on its own. That's thanks to the contour lines that draw the face and feathers on the top side, and the typical brown laser edge.
  • You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small hanging decoration to a large window decoration. You can choose the width from 5 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You don't need to worry when crafting with children. The lasered edges are smooth, with no rough saw marks.
  • You can plan larger projects with ease. The owl is available singly or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.

Why this wooden owl makes a difference every day

A silhouette made of real wood has visible grain and a noticeable weight. Printed decorations can't match that. In just a few steps, you can create a woodland scene at the window, on a branch or in the children's room. And if you design the owl yourself, what hangs there isn't just any decoration. It's something that clearly shows your own hand.

Material & finish

The owl is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it smooth edges and the characteristic warm brown rim that adds depth to the motif. The top side has the lasered contour lines with face and feather details. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue and oil well. Wood is a purely natural material, so every piece turns out slightly different. Shade, grain and small knots vary. That's exactly what makes each owl one of a kind. It is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use your wooden owl

  • Crafting with children on a rainy afternoon: everyone paints their own owl. By the evening, a small, home-made owl family is hanging in the window.
  • For autumn decorations: arrange a few owls between twigs, conkers and fairy lights. Your windowsill will tell a story of the woods.
  • In the children's room: as part of a woodland scene on the wall or on a mobile. The little owl keeps watch over the bedtime routine.
  • Stick on a small owl, and the parcel looks lovingly made rather than quickly wrapped.
  • For nurseries, schools or craft groups: with a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, every child gets their own motif. And you don't have to spend hours sawing them out beforehand.
  • In a café, farm shop or at the weekly market: owls in different sizes in your autumn display. In just a few steps, your counter gets a seasonal look.

Good to know about the owl

The owl has been a symbol of wisdom since ancient times. As the companion of the Greek goddess Athena, it already appeared on coins and coats of arms back then. That's why the motif suits not only autumn and woodland decorations. It's also a lovely fit for the start of school, reading sessions and everything to do with learning.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. The wood is untreated, so it's happiest in a dry indoor space. Simply wipe off dust with a dry cloth. Avoid constant moisture. If you paint or oil the owl, you give the surface extra protection. That way your motif will look good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the owl or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it – ideal for your own craft ideas.

Is the motif the same on both sides? No. The top side has the lasered contour lines with face and feather details. The underside is left natural, without any details.

Why does the owl have a brown edge? The brown edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this process. It frames the silhouette and also ensures smooth edges.

Do all owls look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it varies in shade and grain. Small knots are normal. Every piece is one of a kind.

How tall is the owl at the width I choose? For reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 7 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.

This is about more than a wooden cutout. It's about the moment your hand-painted owl hangs in the window and someone asks where you got it. Just choose your width and quantity, and start creating.
