Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. When you build houses in miniature, one detail often decides whether a model looks lifelike: the windows. Our wooden model-making windows with a segmental arch are made for exactly that. They are laser-cut, finely detailed and come in 18 versions, ready for your next craft project. Your model house, nativity scene or decoration gets the character it was missing.
What changes for you
- Your model gets plenty of detail, because you can choose from 18 different window models: single casement, double casement, with glazing bars or without.
- You'll find the right size for every scale. Each window can be ordered in heights from 3 to 15 cm, in 1 cm steps.
- You can design it just as you like: paint it, stick things on, varnish it or oil it. The wood is untreated and takes paint well.
- You can carry on without sanding. The laser-cut edges are smooth and have the typical brown rim.
- You order exactly what you need, because every window is available individually. No set with leftover parts.
Why these wooden windows make a difference in everyday use
A plywood shell is quick to build. But it's the windows that give a model its face and scale. With a segmental arch window in the right place, a facade looks like a real building rather than a box. You combine shape, glazing bars and size freely. So you get exactly the picture you had in mind, with no compromise on detail.
Material & finish
The windows are made from 3 mm plywood and laser-cut in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck. The laser cut gives clean, smooth edges and the characteristic brown cut edge. Many people like it on their models for its warm, authentic colour. The wood is untreated. It is neither lacquered nor glazed, so you can paint, oil or decorate it as you wish. As a natural material, every piece has its own grain. Some are lighter, some darker, and some have small knots. That makes every window unique. No two pieces are the same.

How to use the wooden windows
- In model making: Fit the windows into the facades of houses, barns or station buildings. Your model shows the typical features of historic buildings at a glance.
- In the nativity scene: Add a window with glazing bars to the stable or a house in the background. The scene feels warmer straight away and tells more of a story.
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own window in their favourite colour. Together, the windows become a shared wooden village.
- As a decoration: Stick the windows onto cards, presents or wooden signs. A plain surface becomes a lovingly made detail. One example is a money gift for a new home or a house move.
- In the shop window or on a market stall: Use small wooden facades and windows to build a seasonal backdrop that frames your goods. It's quick to set up and you can rearrange it again and again.
Good to know about the segment shape
The segmental arch is a flat arch that follows part of a circle. It has shaped windows and doors for centuries, especially on old buildings and late 19th-century facades. That's why segmental arch windows are so popular in model making. They make model townhouses, stations and historic buildings look convincing straight away.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the wooden windows? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint, oil or decorate it. Paint sticks directly to the natural surface.
Why do the windows have a brown edge? The windows are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown cut edge. The laser cut also gives smooth edges that need no finishing.
Do all the windows look the same? Wood is a purely natural material. Shade and grain vary, and there may be small knots. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique.
Are there different sizes and shapes? Yes. You choose from 18 models, with or without glazing bars, single or double casement. You set the height between 3 and 15 cm in 1 cm steps.
What counts is more than a piece of plywood with a segmental arch. It's the moment you look at your finished model and every window sits exactly where you pictured it. Just choose your model and height, and keep building your idea.
