Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The box of craft supplies is on the table. It gets dark early outside. And this year you want Christmas decorations that really look like you. That's exactly what this wooden spruce cone is made for. It's a clear silhouette in 3 mm poplar plywood. You can paint it, stick things on it or simply hang it up as it is. A plain wooden cutout becomes your very own piece of winter decoration.
What changes for you
- You design your Christmas decorations exactly the way you imagine them. The wood is untreated, so you can paint, oil, varnish or decorate it.
- You'll find the right size for every spot, from a small hanging tag to a large window decoration. You choose the height freely from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can craft in a relaxed way, even with children – because the laser-cut edges are smooth and need no sanding.
- You can easily kit out larger projects too – with sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- You're holding a genuine natural material instead of plastic decorations. The visible grain makes every piece one of a kind.
Why this wooden spruce cone makes a difference
Shop-bought decorations often look the same everywhere. A cone you've decorated yourself tells a little story instead – yours. Hang it in the window, on the Advent wreath or on a present. The simple shape and the wood bring a natural feel to the room without being loud. And making them gives you a cosy afternoon at the table.
Material & finish
The silhouette is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. This gives it the typical brown edge that brings out the outline. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean. It feels good in the hand and is ready to use straight away. The wood is untreated, neither lacquered nor glazed. That's why it takes paint, oil and glue well. As a natural material, it shows different shades, fine textures and occasionally small knots. This isn't a flaw. It's exactly what makes every piece unique. Every cone is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the spruce cone
- Crafting with children on an Advent weekend: everyone paints their own cone. At the end, a colourful row hangs in the window and everyone is proud of it.
- As a gift tag: write a name on it and the cone becomes a label that's also kept as a little keepsake.
- On the Advent wreath or Christmas tree: hang a mix of sizes for a calm, consistent look with little effort.
- On Christmas cards or money gifts: stick on a small cone and the card becomes something people like to keep.
- In a shop window, café or at the weekly market: large cones up to 50 cm stand out because of their size. Sets of 25, 50 or 100 make it easy to plan decorations for whole areas. They're quick to hang up and quick to put away again.
Good to know about the spruce cone
Real spruce cones hang downwards from the branches and fall to the ground whole. Fir cones are different: they stand upright and break apart on the tree. That's why almost everyone knows the spruce cone from walks in the woods, even though people often loosely call it a fir cone. As a silhouette, it brings that familiar woodland feeling into your winter decorations.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Stored somewhere dry, the cutout keeps its shape and colour for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to use it outdoors, a coat of paint, varnish or oil protects the untreated wood.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the spruce cone or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated and takes paint, oil, wood stain and glue well. It's ideal for decorating your own way.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The cone is laser-cut. This creates the typical dark edge that brings out the outline. It's a feature of the process, not a fault.
Do all cones look the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't. As a natural material, it shows different shades, grain patterns and sometimes small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.
Is the cone suitable for outdoor use? The wood is untreated. For outdoor use, we recommend a protective coat of paint, varnish or oil.
Picture the moment your own decorated cones hang in the window. Suddenly Advent looks like home. Just choose your height and quantity – and get started.
