Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A crafting afternoon at the kitchen table, a new motif for the kitchen wall or a lovingly decorated tag on a home-baked gift – sometimes all you need is the right blank. This wooden fish knife in 3 mm poplar plywood is made for your next craft idea. It is untreated and smoothly laser-cut. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm. You do the designing, and the wood plays along.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away. The wood is natural and untreated, and it takes paint well.
- Your kitchen decor gets a fitting motif – the silhouette of a kitchen knife picks up the theme of cooking directly.
- You will find the right size for every project, from a small gift tag to a large wall decoration – thanks to widths from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You work with clean, smooth edges and no sanding – because every cutout is laser-cut. This gives it the typical fine brown edge.
- When crafting with children or in a larger group, you won't run out – the cutouts come singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden fish knife makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut motif takes the tedious part off your hands: no drawing, no sawing, no deburring. You focus on the fun part – designing, decorating, giving. And in the end, your kitchen shelf or your gift from your own kitchen carries a piece that is clearly handmade.
Material & finish
The cutout is made of 3 mm poplar plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The edges are clean and smooth. The typical brown laser edge gives the motif a finely drawn outline. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can stick things on it, paint it, coat it or oil it as you like. As a purely natural material, it shows different shades, small knots and a lively grain. This is not a flaw – it is exactly what makes every piece unique.

How to use the wooden fish knife
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own knife motif – and proudly takes home a kitchen picture they designed themselves.
- As a gift tag: a labelled motif on a jar of homemade jam – and your little gift from your own kitchen carries your name.
- As wall decoration in the kitchen: arrange several sizes side by side above the kitchen shelf – and the wall shows at a glance what happens in this room.
- In a café or bakery: labelled motifs on the counter or shelf mark your range or special offers – quick to put up and easy to redesign at any time.
- For craft groups, schools and craft classes: with the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you have identical blanks for the whole group – no cutting, no preparation.
Good to know about the fish knife
The fish knife has been part of classic table culture since the 19th century. Its broad, blunt blade does not cut the fish. Instead, it gently lifts the flesh off the bones. This distinctive, instantly recognisable shape makes the silhouette ideal for decorations around the kitchen, dining room and catering – from wall pictures to buffet signs.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated wood dry and away from constant moisture, and it will keep its natural look for a long time. If you paint or oil it, you give the surface extra protection – depending on your project.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the cutout is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint, decorate, coat or oil it straight away.
Where does the brown edge come from? The motif is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge with smooth edges, which subtly highlights the outline.
Why do the cutouts look different? Wood is a purely natural material. Different shades, fine textures and small knots are normal and make every piece unique.
How tall is the motif at my chosen width? The height increases in proportion to the width – at a width of 10 cm, it is 1.5 cm.
Can I order larger quantities? Yes. As well as single pieces, there are sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 – for craft groups or shop decoration, for example.
A wooden cutout is only the start. What counts is the moment your own design hangs on the kitchen wall and you think: I made that. Simply choose your width and quantity – and get started.
