Why this wooden otter makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-made blank takes care of the tedious part. You get to do the fun part: decorating. Instead of tools and templates, all you need is a brush and an idea. In the end, a little one-of-a-kind piece you made yourself sits on your windowsill. When crafting with children, the clear animal shape helps small hands see results quickly. And those are results they can be proud of.
Material & finish
The otter is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge that subtly outlines the silhouette. The edges are smooth, so nobody gets a splinter. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor stained. That means you can easily glue, paint or oil it. Wood is a natural material, so every piece turns out slightly different. Some are lighter, some darker. Occasionally there are small knots or irregularities in the grain. This is not a flaw. It makes every otter one of a kind.

- In the children's room or on the seasonal table: Hang the large version on the wall. Scatter the small ones around it as table scatter.
- At nursery, school or a nature conservation group: With sets of 10 or more, you'll have enough blanks for everyone on project days about native animals. No cutting needed.
- In a shop or café: Paint them and use them in your window or counter display on the theme of nature and water. They're quick to set up and easy to rearrange again and again.
Good to know about the otter
The otter is known as a particularly playful resident of our native rivers and lakes. For a long time it had become rare. Today it is returning to many places and has become a symbol of successful nature conservation. That's why the motif suits project days about native animals and nature decorations so well. It's also perfect for anyone who loves rivers, lakes and the creatures that live in them.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated cutout dry and it will hold its shape and look good for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you'd like to display the otter outdoors, give it a protective coat of paint or oil it first.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the otter or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be glued, painted or oiled. It's ideal for painting and decorating.
Where does the brown edge come from? The otter is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that outlines the silhouette. The edges are smooth.
How tall is the otter at a given width? As a guide: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 4.5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Are colour differences in the wood normal? Yes. Wood is a natural material and varies in shade. Small knots or irregularities in the grain may occur. That's exactly what makes every piece one of a kind.
Is the cutout suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it should be kept somewhere dry. With a protective coat of paint or oil, you can also use it as an outdoor decoration.
A wooden cutout is only the beginning. The best part is the moment your hand-painted otter finds its spot on the windowsill. And you smile every time you walk past it. Just choose your size and get started.
