Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The pumpkin is on the doorstep. The windows are decorated. But your wall and table still need something spooky. A wooden skull does just that. It is a clear skull silhouette with inner cut-outs. You can paint it, stick things on it or simply hang it up as it is. It's made for your Halloween decorations. That's how a plain wooden cutout becomes your very own spooky piece.
What changes for you
- You design your Halloween decorations exactly the way you like. The plywood is untreated, so you can paint it, decorate it with glue-on bits, coat it or oil it.
- You'll find the right size for every spot, from a small hanging tag to a large wall skull. You can choose any height from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can get started straight away, with no sanding or finishing. The laser cut leaves smooth, clean edges.
- You can plan bigger projects with ease, such as crafts with children or a club party. The skull is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden skull makes a difference
Ready-made decorations look the same everywhere. Here you hold a blank that you design yourself. Wood also looks quite different from plastic decorations. The grain stays visible. You can feel the surface. It looks calmer and a little more honest. When Halloween is over, your skull simply goes into the decorations box. And next year it's back again.
Material & finish
The skull is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia. Laser cutting creates the typical brown edge, which gives the design extra outline. The wood is untreated. It is neither varnished nor stained, so it takes paint, glue and oil well. Wood is a natural material and never completely even. Shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That makes every cutout one of a kind.

How to use the wooden skull
- At a craft afternoon before Halloween: Put brushes, paints and a few skulls in different sizes on the table. The children will be busy for a whole hour.
- On the window or front door: A large wooden skull greets little trick-or-treaters from afar. It's quick to hang up, with no lengthy decorating.
- On the Halloween party buffet: Scatter small skulls between the bowls to give your table the right theme. No plastic bits needed.
- In a café, bakery or at a market stall: Painted cutouts on the counter and in the shop window bring seasonal mood to your shop. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you can decorate larger areas in one go.
- As a gift tag or party favour: Add a small skull to each guest gift. Every guest takes a piece of the party home.
Good to know about the skull
The skull has always been one of the classic Halloween motifs. The festival goes back to old customs around All Saints' Day, when people remembered the dead. That's why the motif suits more than a spooky party. It also works for themed evenings, theatre sets and autumn shop window displays.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the cutout dry and away from constant moisture. Then the untreated wood keeps its shape and look for a long time. If you want to use it outdoors, a coat of paint or oil gives the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the skull or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated and takes acrylic paints, pens, glue or oil well. It's ideal for crafting, decorating and painting.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The cutout is laser-cut and has smooth edges. The brown laser edge on the cut surfaces is typical of this process.
Why don't all the cutouts look exactly the same? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots differ from piece to piece. This is not a flaw. It makes every skull one of a kind.
Can I use the cutout outdoors? Yes, with some preparation. A coat of paint or oil protects the untreated wood from moisture. Then it will last on a front door or window shutter too.
Is the cutout available in larger quantities? Yes. As well as single pieces, you can choose sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100. They're handy for groups, schools, clubs or shop decorations.
A wooden cutout is only the start. The real moment comes when your hand-painted skull hangs on the door and the first guests ring the bell with a smile. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
