An afternoon at the kitchen table. Brushes and paints are ready, and the children can't wait. In your hand is a smooth wooden star, ready to be decorated. Our wooden hexagram in 3 mm poplar plywood is made for moments like these. It's a six-pointed star in natural wood. You can paint it, stick things on it or simply hang it up as it is. Choose any height from 5 to 50 cm to suit your idea.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, gluing or oiling straight away. The wood is untreated, with no varnish or glaze.
  • You get clean results with no sanding needed. The laser-cut edges are smooth and have the typical brown edge that frames the star.
  • Your project works in any size, from a small hanging decoration to a large wall piece. You choose the height freely between 5 and 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You save money when crafting with children, in groups or for larger decorating projects. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are available.
  • You're holding a piece of honest craftsmanship. It's made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden hexagram makes a difference

You see ready-made decorations everywhere. A star you've decorated yourself tells your own story. Hang it in the window, on a branch or use it as a gift tag. The wood feels slightly rough and easy to grip. It smells of the forest and looks different from printed decorations. Every star can be decorated differently, so the same cutout turns into something new each time.

Material & finish

The hexagram is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. That's why the edges are smooth and have the brown edge that laser cutting creates. The surface is untreated and takes paint, glue or oil well. Wood is a natural material. It varies in shade, has its own grain and may have small knots. This makes every piece one of a kind. It's not a flaw, it's simply the nature of wood.

How to use the wooden hexagram

  • Christmas crafts with children: each child paints their own star. In the end, the tree is full of decorations everyone is proud to point out.
  • Homemade Christmas decorations: hang several stars in different sizes in the window. Your windows look festive without looking cluttered.
  • As a gift tag or for gifts of money: tie a star with a written message to a ribbon. An envelope becomes a small, personal gift.
  • In nurseries, schools or craft groups: with a set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, everyone gets the same blank. You can prepare the craft session without any cutting.
  • For shop windows and shop decor: decorate and hang large stars up to 50 cm tall. A seasonal theme is quick to set up and just as quick to change.

Good to know about the hexagram

The hexagram is much more than a geometric shape. As the Star of David, it is the best-known symbol of Judaism. As a simple six-pointed star, it has been part of festive decorations for centuries. So the cutout suits religious occasions just as well as wintry star decorations in the window or on the tree.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. The untreated wood stays looking good for a long time if you keep it dry and away from constant moisture. If the star is going to hang outdoors, a protective coat of paint or a glaze of your choice helps.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wood treated? No, the cutout is left natural – neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint, decorate, coat or oil it straight away.

Where does the brown edge come from? The star is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It also leaves the edges smooth and clean.

How wide is the star at a given height? For reference: at 10 cm high, the width is 9.5 cm. The other sizes scale accordingly.

Why don't all the stars look the same? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary. This makes every piece one of a kind.

Is the hexagram suitable for crafting with children? Yes. The laser-cut edges are smooth and the untreated surface takes paint well. It's ideal for crafting afternoons together.

A wooden cutout is only the start. The real moment comes when your star hangs in the window and you think: we made that. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
