- You can get started straight away with painting, gluing or oiling – thanks to the untreated wood, which takes paint and glue really well.
- You'll find the right size for every project – from 3 cm for table scatter to 50 cm for the church window, selectable in 1 cm steps.
- You save time and money when crafting with groups – because you can order the fish individually or straight away as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- You get clean, even shapes – because every fish is laser-cut and therefore has smooth edges.
Why this wooden Jesus fish makes a difference every day
Whether on the festive table for a First Communion, on the christening candle or on a lovingly wrapped gift: the fish brings calm and meaning to your decorations without being overbearing. The warm natural material goes just as well with linen, candles and flowers as it does with children's colourfully painted crafts. The result is an overall look that feels personal rather than shop-bought.
Material & finish
The cutout is made from 3 mm plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's why the edges are smooth with the typical brown rim. This rim gives every silhouette a fine outline. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it just as you like. Wood is a natural material, so every piece shows its own grain. Some are lighter, some darker, and some have small knots. This is not a flaw. It is exactly what makes every fish one of a kind.

How to use the Jesus fish
- For a christening: stick small fish onto invitations and menu cards – and your guests will sense what the day is all about even before the celebration.
- Crafting with children for First Communion or confirmation: each child paints their own fish – and at the end, a colourful, personal garland hangs in the parish hall.
- As gift tags: write names on them and tie them to money gifts or guest favours – turning a small gesture into a lasting memory.
- In the parish or at Sunday school: use large fish from 30 cm upwards as wall or window decorations – quick to hang up and recognisable from afar.
- For floristry and shop displays: place fish in arrangements, shop windows or on the bakery counter during confirmation season – a seasonal display with very little effort.
Good to know about the Christian fish
The fish is one of the oldest symbols of Christianity: the Greek word "Ichthys" (fish) served early Christians as a sign of their faith, because its letters stand for "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour". That's exactly why the silhouette suits christenings, First Communions and confirmations (Protestant and Catholic alike) so well – it doesn't just decorate, it tells a story.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: simply store the untreated wood somewhere dry and protect it from prolonged moisture, and it will keep its natural look for a long time. If you paint or oil the fish, you'll also make the surface more resistant.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the Jesus fish? Yes. The wood is untreated and takes paint, glue, glaze or oil well – ideal for crafting, including with children.
Why does the fish have a brown rim? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim with smooth edges – a feature of the process that gives the silhouette a fine outline.
Does every fish look the same? The shape does, the wood doesn't: as a natural material, plywood varies in shade and grain and occasionally has small knots – every piece is one of a kind.
Is the fish available in larger quantities? Yes, as well as single pieces you can choose sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 – handy for parish groups, schools and larger celebrations.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the moment when, years later, the christened child picks up the little fish they painted themselves – and you know this memory will last. Simply choose your size and quantity and get started.
