Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The craft table is set and the watercolours are ready. But the little wooden farm is still missing a calf for the cow. This wooden calf is made for exactly that kind of crafting afternoon. It is a funny little calf, cut from plywood, and you can decorate it however you like. Paint it, stick things on it or leave it natural. Either way, you turn the plain blank into your very own farm animal.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away. The plywood comes untreated in its natural state, and paint sticks to it well.
- Your motif fits your project exactly, from a small table scatter piece to a large wall decoration. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can tell it's a calf at first glance, even before a single brushstroke. The face and lines are already laser-scored into the top side.
- You can work comfortably without any risk of splinters. The laser cut leaves smooth edges, with no sanding or finishing needed.
- When crafting with children, you have enough for the whole group. The calf is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden calf makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut motif takes care of the hardest part for you. There is nothing to draw and nothing to saw. You can focus entirely on decorating. That turns a craft session with children into a relaxed afternoon rather than a test of patience. And you end up with a farm motif for the children's room, the nature table or the nursery that you really made yourselves.
Material & finish
The calf is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical brown edge, which makes the motif look finished. The top side shows the scored lines. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated, with no varnish or glaze. That is why paint, glue and oil take to it so well. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, and carefully finished. Wood is a natural material, so every piece turns out a little different. Variations in shade, fine grain patterns and small knots are not flaws. They make every calf one of a kind.

How to use the wooden calf
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own calf. In the end, a whole colourful herd stands on the windowsill.
- In the children's room: Together with other wooden farm animals, it makes a farm scene on the wall or shelf that grows along with your child.
- On the nature table: In spring, the calf brings the scene to life. Leave it natural or paint it in soft colours, perhaps next to blossoms and fresh greenery.
- In small sizes as table scatter: On the birthday table or tucked into a children's party card, the mini calf brings a smile when it's unwrapped.
- At nursery and primary school: With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, the whole group gets identical blanks. No cutting, no preparation. They also work well for Easter crafts with children in spring.
- In the farm shop or at the market: As decoration on the counter or a price tag, the calf shows where your produce comes from. It's quick to set up and lasts a long time.
Good to know about the calf
The nature table comes from Steiner Waldorf education. It uses small figures and natural materials to help children grasp the course of the year. A calf traditionally belongs to spring, when the young animals are born on the farm. That makes this cutout a good fit for families, nurseries and anyone who wants to show children what country life is like.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated wood dry and away from constant moisture. That way it keeps its shape and looks good for a long time. If you paint or oil the calf, you protect the surface further and give it your own colour.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the calf? Yes. The wood is untreated and in its natural state. You can stick things on it, paint it, oil it or colour it. Paint adheres well to the raw surface.
How tall is the cutout at a given width? As a reference: at 10 cm wide, it is approx. 8 cm high. The other sizes are in proportion.
Why does the motif have a brown edge? The calf is laser-cut. The brown edge is typical of this kind of cut. It also gives you smooth edges that need no finishing.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, but the wood is not. As a natural material, it varies in shade and can show fine grain patterns or small knots. That is exactly what makes each piece one of a kind.
Is only one side designed? Yes. The laser-scored outlines with face and lines are on the top side. The underside is left natural.
What counts is the moment your child proudly holds up the calf they painted themselves. Then you decide together where it gets to stand on your farm. Just choose your size and quantity. The rest happens at your craft table.
