The nativity scene is set up and the Three Kings are on their way. Only the caravan is missing. Or perhaps you're looking for an animal shape for a crafting afternoon with the children. It should be easy to paint and still look good. This dromedary wooden cutout is made for moments like these. It's a camel in 3 mm poplar plywood. You can stand it up as it is or decorate it however you like.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away – the wood comes untreated in its natural finish and takes any colour well.
  • Your shape looks lively even before you pick up a brush. The engraved outlines trace the dromedary's face and lines in fine detail.
  • You'll find exactly the right size for your project. Choose from 5 to 50 cm wide, in 1 cm steps.
  • You can craft with children without worrying about rough spots. The laser-cut edges are smooth and pleasant to the touch.
  • Larger projects are easy to kit out too. Think of a whole caravan for the shop window or the children's group. Order singly or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this wooden dromedary makes a difference

Ready-made decorations look the same for everyone. A wooden blank becomes your own piece. The children might paint their ship of the desert in bright colours. Or you might place it unpainted at the nativity scene. The wood feels sturdy and firm to hold. It also shows its open grain, which printed card can't offer. And because every dromedary is made from real wood, no two are exactly alike. That's part of the appeal.

Material & finish

The dromedary is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. This gives it the typical brown edge, which outlines the silhouette nicely. The front carries the engraved outlines with the face and details. The back stays natural. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor stained. You decide on the finish yourself. Variations in shade, fine structures in the grain or small knots are not flaws. They are the mark of a natural material: every piece is one of a kind. The cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden camel

  • During Advent: place the dromedary with the Three Kings at the nativity scene. Suddenly the scene feels complete.
  • Crafting with children: each child paints their own ship of the desert. In the end, a colourful caravan makes its way across the windowsill.
  • For money gifts: stick the banknote onto the camel as a saddle blanket. Instead of an envelope, you hand over a little story.
  • Making Christmas decorations: tie a small dromedary to the gift ribbon or use it as a tag. Your parcel will stand out under the tree straight away.
  • In a shop or café: use a set to decorate your shop window or counter in an oriental style. The same shape in different sizes makes a coherent display with little effort.
  • At nursery or school: with the set of 25 or 50, every child has their own blank. And you save yourself the tedious tracing and sawing.

Good to know about the dromedary

For centuries, the dromedary has been called the "ship of the desert". Caravans used it to carry goods over long distances through the desert, just as ships cross the sea. That's why the animal has a firm place in the Christmas story. The Three Kings are traditionally shown with camels. So the cutout is a natural addition to your nativity scene and Advent decorations.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Stored in a dry place, the untreated wooden cutout keeps its shape and colour for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to display the dromedary outdoors, protect it first with paint, varnish or oil.

  • Width freely selectable from 5 to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the dromedary or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated. You can paint it, decorate it with glued-on items, coat it or oil it, depending on your project.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The dromedary is laser-cut. The brown edge forms naturally during this process and is part of its typical look.

How tall is the shape at the width I choose? Width and height are the same. At 10 cm wide, the dromedary is also 10 cm tall.

Does every piece look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. Shade, grain and small knots vary. As a natural product, every cutout is one of a kind.

Is the dromedary suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it belongs indoors. Protected with paint, varnish or oil, you can also use it as an outdoor decoration.

A wooden cutout is only the start. Then comes the moment when the children proudly set up their brightly painted caravan. Or when the dromedary quietly takes its place at the nativity scene. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest yourself.
