This year you want to make your own Advent calendar. The windows still need a motif. Brushes and paints are already waiting on the craft table. This wooden camel is made for exactly that. It is a clear dromedary silhouette in plywood. You can paint it or stick things on it as you like. Or simply stand it up in its natural finish. A few cutouts are all it takes to create your very own decorations.

What changes for you

  • You can get started straight away with painting, gluing or decorating – because the wood is untreated and takes paint, glue and oil well.
  • Your motif fits your project perfectly, from a small hanging ornament to a window decoration – thanks to widths from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can craft with children in peace, without snagging on rough edges – because laser cutting leaves the edges smooth.
  • You get plenty of supplies for groups, classes or larger projects – individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
  • What you are holding is a piece of honest craftsmanship. It was made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden camel makes a difference day to day

Shop-bought decorations often look the same everywhere. A wooden blank, on the other hand, only becomes something truly yours in your hands – whether brightly painted by a child, subtly oiled on the windowsill or part of a nativity scene you've designed yourself. That's how you get decorations with a story that suit your home, rather than just sitting in it.

Material & finish

The dromedary is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood, which gives it the typical brown edge that nicely outlines the silhouette. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so the cutout sits comfortably in the hand – even in small hands. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed: you can paint it, decorate it, oil it or use it just as it is. As a natural material, it shows variations in shade, small irregularities in the grain or the occasional knot – and that's exactly what makes every piece unique.

How to use your wooden camel

  • Crafting with children on an Advent Sunday: each child paints their own dromedary – and at the end, a colourful caravan makes its way across the windowsill.
  • For your Christmas decorations: the camels complete your nativity scene or candle arch – and suddenly the scene with the Three Wise Men is complete.
  • As hanging ornaments or table scatter: small sizes decorate presents, Christmas cards or your homemade advent calendar – turning the wrapping into part of the gift.
  • At nursery, at school or in your craft group: with sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, every child gets their own blank – without you having to spend hours sawing beforehand.
  • In the shop window or at the counter: large cutouts of up to 50 cm set the scene for an oriental or winter theme – quick to put in place and reusable year after year.

Good to know about the dromedary

The dromedary is the one-humped camel and has been a firm part of the Christmas story for centuries: in countless nativity scenes it travels with the Three Wise Men to the stable in Bethlehem. That's why the silhouette fits so well into Advent and Christmas – as an addition to your nativity scene, as a window decoration or as a motif for Christmas crafts with children.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do: kept dry, the untreated plywood keeps its natural look for a long time. Avoid prolonged damp and wet conditions – if you want the motif to be a little more hard-wearing, simply paint, oil or varnish it.

Options & what's included

  • Width freely selectable from 3 cm to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • The wooden camel is supplied untreated in its natural state – paints, ribbons and other decorations are not included

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the wooden camel? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be painted, glued, oiled or decorated further – ideal for crafting and decorating.

Why do the cutouts look slightly different? Wood is a natural material: shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That's exactly what makes every cutout unique.

How tall is the motif at the width I've chosen? As a reference: at a width of 10 cm, the dromedary is 8.5 cm tall. The height increases in proportion to the width you choose.

Where does the brown edge come from? The motif is laser-cut – the brown edge is created during cutting, is typical of this process and subtly frames the silhouette.

Are larger quantities available for bigger projects? Yes. You can order the camel individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 – for craft groups, schools or shop decorations, for example.

In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the afternoon spent painting and gluing at the kitchen table – and the little caravan that decorates your window afterwards. Just choose your width and quantity; the rest happens at home with you.
