Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The nativity scene is set up and the figures are in place. But the edge of the scene still feels a little empty. This wooden camel is made for exactly that. It is a blank made of untreated poplar plywood. You can paint it, decorate it or simply stand it up in its natural state. Christmas crafts, an oriental theme in the shop window or crafting with kids at the kitchen table – the simple figure soon becomes your very own little ship of the desert.
What changes for you
- You design the figure just the way you like. The wood is untreated, so you can paint, oil, decorate or colour it.
- You find the right size for every project. Choose a width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can get started right away, with no sanding or finishing – the laser-cut edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
- You can supply larger craft groups, school classes or a whole caravan. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 are available.
- You get products from our own production. Every camel is made by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why this wooden camel makes a difference day to day
A ready-made decoration looks the same everywhere. A blank you design yourself shows your own style. The camel joins the nativity scene, becomes part of an oriental display or turns into a Christmas craft project with kids. In the end you have something that exists only once. Because the shape is simple, there is plenty of room for your own design.
Material & finish
The camel is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. It has the typical fine, brown burnt edge. This edge traces the outline clearly and gives the figure character. The surface is left natural, without varnish or glaze. That is why paints and glue stick well. Wood is a purely natural material. Brightness and grain vary, and small knots may occur. This makes every piece unique and is not a defect.

How to use your wooden camel
- Setting up the nativity scene in Advent: Place one or more camels next to the Three Wise Men. The scene immediately looks more complete.
- Crafting with kids: Each child paints their own camel. In the end a colourful caravan stands on the windowsill, and everyone is a little proud.
- As tags or table scatter for Christmas crafts: Small sizes decorate presents, cards or the Advent wreath.
- For a themed party or an oriental evening: Use large camels as table decorations or on the wall. The theme is clear at a glance.
- In shops, cafés or at the weekly market: Quickly place them on the counter or in the shop window as seasonal decoration. With sets of up to 100, you can also plan for larger areas and promotions.
Good to know about the camel
The camel is called the “ship of the desert” because it has reliably carried people and goods through the desert for centuries – just as ships cross the sea. That is why it is part of the Christmas story and the nativity scene. It accompanies the Three Wise Men on their long journey. The figure fits there especially well. It also suits any decoration with an oriental or travel theme.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. Store the untreated figures in a dry place. Simply wipe off dust with a soft cloth. Avoid constant moisture. This keeps the wood stable and looking good for a long time. If you paint or oil it, you protect the surface even more.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the camel? Yes. The wood is untreated and not varnished. You can paint, oil or decorate it, or use colours of your choice.
Where does the brown edge come from? The figure is laser-cut. This creates the typical, even brown edge. The edges are smooth and do not need sanding.
How tall is the camel at a given width? As a reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 7.5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Why don’t all the figures look exactly the same? Wood is a natural material. Brightness, grain and small knots vary. This makes every camel unique.
A wooden cutout is only the starting point. What matters is the moment the caravan you painted yourself stands in the nativity scene and you see: we made that ourselves. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
