Why this wooden red panda makes a difference
Ready-made plastic decorations look the same everywhere. A wooden motif you decorate yourself tells your own story. Hang it in the window or on the nursery door, or add it to a present as a lovingly made extra. The red panda brings natural wood into the room. And when you craft with children, you get something that lasts: time together and a result everyone is proud of.
Material & finish
The red panda is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Laser cutting leaves smooth edges without splinters. They feel pleasant in the hand and are ready to decorate. The typical brown edge is the hallmark of laser cutting and gives the motif a fine outline. The wood is left untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. That way, paint, glue and oil adhere reliably. As a natural material, each piece has its own shade, grain and sometimes small knots. This makes every red panda unique and is not a defect.

How to use the red panda
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own red panda. At the end, a little gallery hangs in the window, and everyone proudly points to theirs.
- As table scatter on a birthday or children's table: Spread small red pandas between the plates. Your guests have something to discover even before the meal.
- Making Christmas decorations: Add paint, glitter or ribbon. The red panda becomes a hanging decoration for a branch or a topper for a present.
- As a window decoration in the nursery: Hang the animal motif on a thread so it can be seen in the window. It takes hardly any effort.
- For nurseries, schools or craft groups: With sets of 10 to 100, every child has the same motif in front of them. You don't have to cut anything yourself.
- In shops or cafés: Use painted red pandas as seasonal counter decorations or in the shop window. They are quick to set up and look different depending on how you paint them.
Good to know about the red panda
In German, the red panda is called "Katzenbär", which means cat-bear. The name comes from its looks: with its bushy, ringed tail and round face, it seems like a mix of a cat and a small bear. No wonder the motif is so popular with children. It's perfect for nursery decorations, party bag gifts and joint craft projects.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated wooden cutout in a dry place and protect it from constant moisture. That way, the natural material keeps its shape and looks good for a long time. If you want a lasting finish, you can paint it, oil it or glue things onto it as you like.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the red panda? Yes. The wood is untreated. You can paint it, glue things onto it, varnish it or oil it. Paint adheres directly to the natural surface.
Where does the brown edge come from? The red panda is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It is part of the process and also gives you smooth, splinter-free edges.
How tall is the red panda at a given width? The height is proportional to the width. At a width of 10 cm, the height is 4 cm.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is always identical, but the wood is not. As a natural material, it varies in shade and may show fine textures or small knots. Every piece is unique.
A wooden cutout is just the start. Then comes the moment when a red panda you painted yourself hangs in the window and someone asks: "Did you make that?" Simply choose your width and quantity. Then your next craft afternoon can begin.
