Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The craft table is set. Paints and brushes are ready. All that's missing is a shape that makes children's eyes light up. The wooden cat bear, better known to many as the red panda, is made for exactly that. It's an untreated wooden cutout for crafting, painting and decorating. A simple piece of plywood becomes your own decoration for the children's room, the table or your next craft project.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away. The wood is untreated and takes paint well.
- Your shape always fits your plan, whether it's a small hanging decoration or a large wall piece. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You'll recognise the red panda at first glance. The outlines on the top are laser-scored and show the animal's features.
- No need to finish the edges. The laser-cut edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
- You'll have enough for everyone at school, nursery or a children's party. The red panda also comes in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden red panda makes a difference
A finished decoration is quick to buy. But one you make yourself tells a story. Crafting the wooden red panda with children turns into an afternoon together. At the end, something of your own hangs on the wall or stands on the table. Wood has a smooth yet slightly textured surface and looks good in muted shades. So the result fits calmly into your home instead of clashing with it.
Material & finish
The red panda is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge. The edge emphasises the outline and adds depth to the shape. The top shows the scored outlines. The underside is left untreated. The wood is neither varnished nor stained, so you can paint, decorate or oil it just as you like. As a natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Brightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That makes every red panda one of a kind. It is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

- In a shop or café: At 50 cm wide, the red panda fills the shop window or the children's counter. You can stand it up or hang it in just a few minutes.
Good to know about the red panda
"Katzenbär" (cat bear) is an old German name for the red panda. It comes from its cat-like face and bushy tail. The red panda is one of the most popular animal shapes with children. That makes this cutout ideal for children's room decorations, birthday crafts and projects at school and nursery.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated wooden cutout dry and away from constant moisture. This way it keeps its shape and its natural look for a long time. Painting or oiling it gives the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the red panda? Yes. The wood is untreated and can be painted, decorated or oiled. Paints adhere well to the untreated surface.
Are both sides the same? No. The top has the laser-scored outlines. The underside is untreated and has no lines.
Why do the cutouts look slightly different? Wood is a natural material. Brightness and grain vary, and small knots are normal. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique.
How tall is the red panda at a given width? As a guide: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 4 cm. The proportions stay the same at every size.
