Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A wooden blank, on the other hand, becomes exactly what you make of it. It can be a hand-painted window decoration, a detail in a spring wreath or a small model for a science lesson. You design it yourself. And in the end, something hangs in your window that exists nowhere else.
Material & finish
The tadpole is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it smooth edges and the typical brown rim that outlines the motif finely. The wood is left natural, without varnish or glaze. So you can paint, decorate or oil it, just as you like. As a natural material, every piece shows its own grain, small knots and different shades. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind. The cutout comes from our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden tadpole
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own tadpole. In the end, a whole colourful shoal swims across the window.
- At nursery or primary school: with a set of 25 or 50 pieces, you can accompany the topic “From frogspawn to frog”. Each child holds their own model in their hands.
- For spring decorations: combine it with frogs, water lilies or reeds to create a pond scene on a windowsill or sideboard. Spring has clearly arrived.
- As a gift tag or table scatter: a small 3 cm tadpole can be attached directly to a parcel.
- In a shop or café: as part of a seasonal window or counter display, you add a lovingly made detail with little effort. Customers will notice it.
Good to know about tadpoles
Few motifs stand for change and growth as much as the tadpole – it eventually turns into a frog. That is why it is popular in nurseries and primary schools when spring lessons cover the life cycle in the pond. It also fits well into any nature or spring decoration.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated cutout in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. This way the wood keeps its shape and your painted tadpole stays looking good for a long time. If you want to display it outdoors or in a damp area, a coat of paint or glaze protects the surface.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the tadpole straight away? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be painted, coloured, decorated or oiled without any preparation.
Why does the cutout have a brown rim? The rim is created during laser cutting and is part of the cutting process. It also gives smooth edges and a fine outline.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it shows different shades, grain patterns and small knots. Every piece is unique.
How tall will my tadpole be? The height depends on the chosen width. For reference: at 10 cm width, the height is 2.5 cm.
This cutout is made for the moment when a child proudly holds up their hand-painted tadpole. Or for the moment your pond decoration in the window announces spring. Simply choose the size and quantity that suit your idea.
