Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A school project about Australia, a themed party in the children's room, or simply wanting to make something of your own with the kids. Sometimes all that's missing is the right figure to paint. This wooden koala is an untreated cutout, made for your craft table. You choose the colour, size and design. The shape is ready and waiting. So the wooden silhouette becomes exactly what you have in mind – painted in bright colours, decorated with patterns or left natural.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, sticking or writing straight away. The plywood is untreated and takes paint, glue and oil well.
- You'll find the right size for every project, from a small koala for table scatter to a large wall figure. You can choose a height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Crafting with children or a whole group is easy. You can order the koala singly or in a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
- Your figures look neat without any extra work. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so there's no need to sand them.
- You get a clearly recognisable koala silhouette that looks good even unpainted. The typical brown laser edge forms a fine outline.
Why this wooden koala makes a difference in everyday life
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A cutout you design yourself is your own work. On the window, on a present or as a place card at the table: the koala brings a bit of Australia into your home. And it always tells the story of the afternoon it was painted. Especially when crafting with children, you create something that lasts longer than the moment.
Material & finish
The koala is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood in our own Bütic production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Thanks to laser cutting, the edges are smooth and clean. They feel pleasant in the hand, even for small hands. The typical brown edge is created during laser cutting and traces the silhouette finely. The wood is left untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. This means you can paint, oil or decorate it however you like. Wood is a natural material, so every piece turns out slightly different. Variations in shade, fine grain structures or small knots are not defects. They make every koala one of a kind.

How to use the koala
- For a school project about Australia: every child designs their own koala. At the end, a whole koala family hangs on the classroom pinboard.
- For a themed party: large koalas as wall decoration, small ones as table scatter. Your guests will know the theme as soon as they walk in.
- In the children's room: painted, given a name and hung on the door. A small decoration your child made themselves.
- For wrapping presents: a small koala on the ribbon instead of a shop-bought bow. Even before unwrapping, it's clear that someone put thought into it.
- For nurseries, after-school clubs or craft groups: with a set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, everyone has the same basic material. You save on preparation, and every result is still unique.
Good to know about the koala
The koala is a marsupial and is known worldwide as a symbol of Australia. Hardly any animal stands for the fifth continent quite as much. That's why the silhouette works so well for school projects about faraway countries, Australia-themed parties or as a reminder of your own trip.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, it stays in good condition for a long time in dry indoor spaces. Avoid constant moisture. Or protect the surface yourself with paint, varnish or oil, just as your project needs.
