An afternoon at the craft table. The children are already picking out their colours. In your hand is a wooden crab. Its edges look as if they've been sanded smooth, and it's pleasantly light. It's ready for brushes, glue or decoupage. This untreated plywood crab silhouette is made for your next craft session. You decide the colour, size and style. The motif brings a seaside feel straight away.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, decorating or writing on it straight away. The wood is untreated, so it takes paint, oil and glue directly.
  • Your decorations look neat and well thought out. That's thanks to the smooth laser-cut edges with their typical brown rim, which gives the motif a fine outline.
  • You'll find exactly the right size for your project. Choose from 5 to 50 cm wide, in 1 cm steps.
  • No sawing needed when you craft with children. Every crab arrives cut out and ready to use.
  • Larger projects are easy to supply too. You can order the crab individually or in a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.

Why this wooden crab makes a difference in everyday life

Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A motif you design yourself tells your own story. Use it as a reminder of your last holiday by the sea, as a nautical hanging decoration in the bathroom or as a joint project with the children. You can paint the wooden crab, stick things on it and design it however you like. And because you choose the size, it fits exactly where you need it. It works as a small piece of table scatter or as a large wall motif.

Material & finish

The crab is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. That's where the precise outline, the smooth edges and the typical brown rim come from. The wood is left natural. It isn't varnished or glazed, so it's open to whatever you want to make of it. Wood is a natural material, so every crab turns out a little different. Some are lighter, some darker, and some have small knots or slight irregularities in the grain. That makes every piece one of a kind. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, and carefully finished.

How to use the wooden crab

  • Crafting with children: Each child paints their own crab. In the end, a small, colourful underwater world hangs in the children's room.
  • For a summer table: Put a crab at every place, with a name written on it. Your guests find their seat and have a little gift to take home.
  • As a holiday souvenir: Decorate the silhouette in coastal colours and bring a bit of the North Sea to your shelf. It stays long after the sand is out of your shoes.
  • In a fish shop, café or at a market stall: Write on the crab with a chalk marker and it becomes a price tag or sign. It's quick to put up, fits the theme and can be redone as often as you like.
  • For money gifts and greetings cards: Stick on a small crab and an envelope becomes a seaside greeting people will remember.

Good to know about the crab

The crab belongs to the North Sea coast just like lighthouses and fishing boats. Crab peeling has a long tradition there. For many people it's closely linked to holidays by the sea. That's why the motif suits nautical decor, beach house style and anything that reminds you of the coast and summer. It works from the bathroom to the table at a fish supper.

Care & durability

There's not much to do. An occasional dry dusting is enough. The plywood is untreated, so it's best to keep it away from constant moisture. Or seal it with paint, varnish or oil once you've finished decorating it. That way your crab keeps its shape and looks good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the wooden crab? Yes. The wood is left natural. You can paint it, oil it, stick things on it or decorate it in other ways. Paint sticks directly to the untreated surface.

Where does the brown rim on the edges come from? The crab is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim. It also gives you smooth edges and a clearly defined outline.

Do all the crabs look the same? The shape is identical, but the wood isn't. As a natural material, it can be lighter or darker and may show small knots or irregularities in the grain. This makes every piece one of a kind.

Is the crab suitable for outdoor use? It's supplied untreated, so it's intended for indoor use. For outdoor use, protect it with paint, varnish or oil. Don't leave it exposed to moisture for long periods.

Picture the moment your painted crab sits at a guest's place or hangs in the children's room. And you know: we made that ourselves. Just choose your size and quantity and get started.
