Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The summer table is laid, but there's nothing seaside in the window yet. And the children's room is finally due an underwater theme. This wooden crab is made for exactly that. It's a clear crab silhouette in plywood. You can paint it, stick things on it or leave it natural, just as you like. That's how a plain cutout becomes your very own sea creature.

- You can relax while crafting, even with children – because the laser-cut edges are smooth and nothing needs sanding.

Why this wooden crab makes a difference
A ready-made shape takes care of the hardest part for you. There's nothing to draw and nothing to saw. You can go straight to the fun part: decorating. Hang it in the window, place it on the summer table or make it part of an underwater world in the children's room. The clear silhouette brings a seaside feel to any room straight away. And because the wood is natural, the crab suits any style. Brightly painted, lightly oiled or left completely plain.
Material & finish
- Made from 3 mm poplar plywood. It's light, keeps its shape and is easy to work with.
- The cutout is laser cut, which gives it the typical brown edge. This edge frames the silhouette and leaves smooth edges without splinters.
- The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glue and oils stick directly to the surface.
- Wood is a purely natural material. Differences in shade, fine structures in the grain and small knots are normal. That's what makes every piece one of a kind.
- Neatly finished, made in Thuringia, Germany.

How to use the wooden crab
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own crab. At the end, a colourful underwater world hangs in the window.
- On the summer table: Put a small crab at each place as a place card or take-home gift. Your guests will have something to smile about before the meal even starts.
- In the children's room: Combine several sizes to make a seaside wall decoration. It grows with your child and can be rearranged at any time.
- For gifts of money: Add a painted crab to the present as a tag. An envelope becomes a lovingly decorated contribution to the holiday fund.
- In a café, fishmonger's or at a market stall: Use the crab silhouette as decoration on the counter or in the shop window to highlight your seaside range. It's quick to put up and lasts a long time.
Good to know about the crab
The crab isn't just a sea creature. It's also the symbol of Cancer, one of the twelve signs of the zodiac. Cancer is the sign for everyone born between late June and late July. So the wooden figure works not only as seaside decoration. It also makes a personal addition to birthday presents or a motif for homemade greetings cards.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, an occasional dusting is enough. Avoid constant moisture. If you'd like to use the crab outdoors or in the bathroom, protect it with a coat of varnish or oil. That way the silhouette keeps its shape and looks good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the wooden crab? Yes. The plywood is untreated. Acrylic paints, coloured pencils, glue or oils stick directly to the surface.
What's the brown edge? The cutout is laser cut. The dark edge forms naturally during cutting. It also leaves smooth edges that need no finishing.
How tall is the crab at a given width? The proportions stay the same. At a width of 10 cm, the height is 5.5 cm. Other sizes scale accordingly.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it shows different shades, grain patterns and small knots. Every piece is unique.
Can the crab be used outdoors? Untreated, it belongs indoors. With a protective coat of varnish or oil, you can use it outside too.
What really counts isn't the plywood cutout. It's the afternoon when a plain wooden shape becomes your own little sea creature with a brush and some paint. And the smile when it later hangs in the window. Just choose your width and the number of pieces you need.
