Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A colleague is retiring. The neighbours are celebrating a topping-out. Or you need the finishing touch for a DIY-themed party. And somehow the right decoration for the occasion is missing. That is exactly what this lath hammer wooden cutout is made for. It is a clear hammer silhouette in natural plywood. You paint it, write on it or decorate it with your own ideas. That turns a plain wooden cutout into a hammer decoration that tells a story.
What changes for you
- You design your decoration exactly as you picture it. The unfinished plywood takes paint, varnish and glue without any preparation.
- Your shape always suits the job, whether table scatter or door sign. You can choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can craft in a relaxed way, even with children – because the laser-cut edges are smooth and don't need sanding.
- You can kit out whole parties or class sets in one go. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are available.
- You hold a cleanly made piece from Bütic's own production in Pößneck. It is made in Thuringia, not anonymous mass-produced goods.
Why this wooden lath hammer makes a difference
Shop-bought decorations often look generic. A wooden hammer you have designed yourself shows that you have put thought into it. Use it as a tag on a gift for a DIY fan. Use it as a name card on the topping-out table. Or use it as a decoration in a shop window. The shape is instantly recognisable. You can paint it, write on it or stick things to it. And because you choose the size and design yourself, each piece fits exactly where you need it.
Material & finish
The cutout is made from 3 mm plywood and is laser-cut. That gives it smooth edges and the typical brown rim, which outlines the shape with a fine contour. The wood is unfinished, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint, glue or decorate it straight away. As a natural material, every piece is one of a kind. The shade varies. Small irregularities in the grain and tiny knots are part of it. They are not a flaw but the nature of real wood.

How to use the wooden lath hammer
- For a topping-out: Write a name on each hammer and place it on the plate. Before the first toast, your guests have already found their keepsake.
- As a gift tag: Tie a small hammer to a toolbox or a DIY store voucher. Even a practical gift then feels personal.
- Crafting with children: Painted in bright colours, the silhouettes become a garland for a builder-themed children's room. And the little builders are proud of their own work.
- In business: Carpenters, roofers and DIY stores can decorate counters and shop windows with large cutouts up to 50 cm. The shape speaks for itself and takes minutes to put in place.
- For anniversaries and farewells: Signed by all colleagues, the large hammer becomes a lasting memento. It is more personal than any card.
Good to know about the lath hammer
The lath hammer is the classic tool of carpenters and roofers. With its claw for pulling nails, it is part of the image of the trade up on the roof timbers. That is why the silhouette suits a topping-out, a journeyman's exam or a thank-you to busy helpers after building a house. The shape stands for honest work with your own hands.
Care & durability
There is not much to do. Simply store the unfinished plywood somewhere dry and protect it from prolonged moisture. Then your decoration will keep its shape and look for a long time. If you want to display the cutouts outdoors, it is best to seal them with paint or varnish.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the cutout straight away? Yes. The plywood is unfinished. You can paint, glue or coat it without any preparation.
Why is the edge brown? The cutout is laser-cut. The brown edge is created during cutting and is typical of this technique. The edges are smooth.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it varies in shade and grain, and small knots are normal. That is what makes each piece unique.
How wide is the hammer at my chosen height? As a guide: at 10 cm tall, the cutout is 4 cm wide. The width grows in proportion to the height you choose.
Are there quantities for larger projects? Yes. As well as single pieces, you can order sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 – for parties, school classes or shop decorations, for example.
A piece of plywood is only the start. What counts is the moment the new homeowner finds the hammer with his name on it. He realises that someone thought of him. Just choose your height and quantity. You design the rest.
