Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. It gets dark early outside. Inside, the air smells of tea and biscuits. And there's still room on the windowsill for a wooden gingerbread family. A wooden gingerbread family brings exactly this cosy Christmas mood into your home. It comes as a laser-cut silhouette with the typical brown edge, made for your Advent decorations. Natural or brightly painted: you decide what your family looks like.
What changes for you
- Your windowsill, table or shelf instantly looks like Christmas. That's because the laser-cut silhouette with its brown edge already looks like real gingerbread, even unpainted.
- You design the figures exactly the way you like. The wood is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, give it a coat of paint or oil it.
- You'll find the right size for every spot. Widths range from 5 cm to 40 cm, selectable in 1 cm steps.
- You get a relaxed craft idea for Advent, including for crafting with children. The edges are laser-cut and smooth, and the cutout is ready to use straight away.
- You put your decorations together your own way. There are six different families to choose from, and each one can be ordered individually.
Why this wooden gingerbread family makes a difference in everyday life
In the Advent season, home should feel cosy, but not cluttered. A wooden gingerbread family fits in between fir branches, candles and plates of biscuits without crowding out anything else. And if you paint it together with your children, the wooden cutout becomes a piece of family decor that comes out again every year.
Material & finish
The cutout is made of 3 mm thick plywood and is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's where the smooth edges come from. It also explains the typical brown edge that makes the gingerbread look so convincing. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue and oil well. As a purely natural material, it varies in shade and shows fine structures in the grain. Occasionally it has small knots. This is not a flaw. It is exactly what makes each piece one of a kind.

- On the windowsill during Advent: a large family between fairy lights and fir branches. Even from outside, people can see that Christmas has arrived.
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own figure. In the end, the whole family stands proudly on the shelf.
- As Christmas table decor: a small silhouette at every place setting. Your guests have something to discover before the meal.
- In a bakery or café: a larger gingerbread family in the display counter or shop window gets your customers in the mood for Christmas. It's quick to set up and can be reused year after year.
- As a personal little gift: painted by you and given away, the wooden cutout becomes a small token that lasts.
Good to know about gingerbread
Gingerbread has been baked since the Middle Ages. For centuries it has been a fixed part of Advent and Christmas. Almost everyone knows gingerbread figures from the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. So it's no wonder the gingerbread family instantly brings back Christmas memories. That's why it feels so familiar on a windowsill, table or counter.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the figures in a dry place and keep them away from lasting moisture, as the wood is untreated. That way your gingerbread family will come out of the Christmas box again for many winters.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the gingerbread family? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, stick things on it, give it a coat of paint or oil it. It's ideal for crafting and decorating.
Where does the brown edge come from? The figures are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It also gives smooth edges and makes the design look like gingerbread.
Why does each figure look slightly different? Wood is a purely natural material. It varies in shade, shows different structures in the grain and can have small knots. This is exactly what makes each piece unique.
How do I choose the right size? As a guide: for families 1–4, the width is 5 cm at a height of 10 cm. For families 5–6, it is 4.5 cm. You can order widths from 5 cm to 40 cm in 1 cm steps.
A wooden cutout means an afternoon at the kitchen table. You paint, laugh and make a bit of a mess. Afterwards, the little family finds its place on the windowsill again every year. Just choose your family and the right size.
