A rainy afternoon, and the craft table is ready: paints, brushes, curious little hands. And right in the middle sits a wooden lemur, just waiting to be painted. This laser-cut plywood lemur silhouette is made for creative hours like these. You paint it, decorate it or oil it however you like. At the end, your child proudly holds their very own jungle animal.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, sticking or doing napkin decoupage straight away – the wood is untreated and takes paint well.
  • You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your craft afternoon with children stays relaxed. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so nobody needs to sand or trim anything.
  • You can plan group projects without any maths. The lemur comes single or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
  • Your decoration looks distinctive rather than generic. The typical brown laser edge neatly traces the silhouette.

Why this wooden lemur makes a difference every day

A ready-made decoration always looks the same. A wooden blank, on the other hand, becomes your very own piece. Use it to decorate a child's room, as part of a jungle theme for a birthday or as a small gift you've designed yourself. You decide on the colour, style and mood. That way you create decorations that tell a story instead of just standing around.

Material & finish

The lemur is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it smooth edges and a clean shape, even with fine contours. The wood is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. That makes it an ideal base for paint, glue or oil. Wood is a natural material, so every piece turns out slightly different. Some are lighter, some darker, with small variations in the grain or the occasional knot. That makes every lemur one of a kind. It is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden lemur

  • Crafting with children: Each child decorates their own lemur with finger paints. At the end of the afternoon, they take a little work of art home.
  • Jungle-themed children's party: Spread several lemurs in different sizes across the table. Your themed party is set before the cake is even cut.
  • In a child's room: Put a large, brightly painted lemur on a shelf or wall. The room then has a motif you won't find anywhere else.
  • Finished with napkin decoupage or paint: The plain blank becomes a small gift or a hanging decoration in your own style.
  • For nurseries, schools or craft groups: With the set of 25, 50 or 100, you have a blank ready for every child. No need to gather individual cutouts.
  • In a shop window or on the counter: Large lemurs from 30 cm show off an animal motif that catches children's eyes. They are quick to set up and can be redesigned at any time.

Good to know about the lemur

The name "lemur" comes from the Latin "lemures", meaning spirits. Researchers thought of them because of the animals' large, glowing eyes. Today the lemur is best known as a friendly jungle dweller. That is exactly why it suits themed parties, children's room decorations and any project about the rainforest and exotic animals.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Keep the untreated cutout dry, and it will keep its shape for a long time. If you paint, varnish or oil it, you give the surface extra protection. That way you will enjoy your decoration for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the wooden lemur? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be painted, decorated, coated or oiled. Napkin decoupage works well too.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The lemur is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that neatly traces the silhouette. It is not a flaw but a feature of laser cutting.

How wide is the lemur at my chosen height? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 9 cm. Other sizes scale proportionally.

Do all cutouts look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it varies in shade and may show small differences in the grain or knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

What counts is the moment when a plain piece of wood becomes a jungle animal in small and big hands. Simply choose your size, single or in a set, and get started.
