Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A shelf with seaside decorations, a mobile above the cot or an afternoon with brushes and paint. Sometimes all that's missing is the right motif. This wooden manta ray is made for ray crafts. It's a clear plywood silhouette. You can paint it, decorate it or simply hang it up untreated. That way, an idea quickly becomes a piece of the sea for your home.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, oiling or decorating straight away. The wood is untreated and takes paint well.
- Your motif fits your project exactly, whether it's for a card or a wall picture. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can carry on crafting without any finishing work. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so there's no need to sand.
- Your ray gets its outline all by itself. The typical brown laser edge traces the silhouette finely.
- You save when crafting with groups or on larger decorating projects. The cutout is also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden manta ray makes a difference every day
Seaside decorations work best with calm, clear shapes. That's exactly what the ray silhouette offers. Instead of colourful ready-made decorations, you hang a natural material on your wall or mobile. It looks warm, and you can design it just the way you like. In the bathroom, in the children's room or on a greetings card: the wooden ray fits clearly and calmly onto any surface.
Material & finish
The cutout is made from 3 mm plywood and laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's where the smooth edges and the typical brown edge come from. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint it, oil it or decorate it, just as your project needs. Wood is a purely natural material. Colour tone and grain vary from piece to piece, and small knots may occur. That's what makes every ray one of a kind.

How to use the wooden manta ray
- Crafting with children: Everyone paints their own ray. In the end, a home-made mobile floats above the cot.
- On the wall in the bathroom or hallway: Arrange several rays in different sizes. This creates a seaside shoal that gives the room a clear theme straight away.
- On cards and gifts: Stick on a small silhouette. A plain envelope turns into an invitation with a holiday feel.
- In a café, fishmonger's or at a market stall: As decoration on the counter or in the shop window, the motif underlines your seaside range. With the sets of 10 to 100, it's quick and uniform to set up.
- At nursery, school or holiday clubs: With sets of up to 100 pieces, every group has enough blanks for ray crafts. You don't have to reorder single pieces.
Good to know about the manta ray
The manta owes its nickname "devil ray" to its two head fins, which look like horns. Yet it's known as a peaceful glider of the seas. This elegant, floating shape is what makes it such a popular motif. It brings calm and a sense of space to seaside decorations, from a children's room mobile to a shop window display.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. As the plywood is untreated, it stays looking good for a long time in dry indoor areas. Avoid constant moisture and wet conditions. Or paint or oil the ray before use to give the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the ray straight away? Yes. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint it, oil it or decorate it.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The ray is laser-cut. The brown edge forms during cutting and traces the silhouette finely. The edges are still smooth.
How tall is the ray at the width I choose? As a guide: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 7.5 cm. The proportions stay the same across all sizes.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it varies in colour tone and grain. Small knots are normal. Every piece is one of a kind.
What you're really after is more than a wooden cutout. It's the moment your own ray floats above the cot or your wall looks like the sea. Just choose your width and quantity, and get started.
