A rainy afternoon. The craft table is set with paints, brushes and curious little hands. All that's missing is something to get everyone started. This wooden mole made of 3 mm plywood is ideal for craft sessions like this. It's a clear animal silhouette that you can paint, decorate and design however you like. A simple cutout becomes your own figure for the windowsill, the garden or as a gift.

What changes for you

  • You can start crafting straight away, with no sawing. The mole is laser-cut and arrives with smooth edges.
  • You can design it exactly as you imagine. The wood is untreated, so you can paint it, stick things on it, coat it or oil it.
  • You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose a width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Craft sessions with several children or larger decorating projects are easy to plan. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 are available.
  • You're holding a genuine natural material. Its own grain and shade make every piece one of a kind.

Why this wooden mole makes a difference

Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. A mole you've designed yourself is a reminder of the afternoon you made it. When crafting with children, the clear shape gives them something to work with. Even little hands end up with a result they're proud of. And afterwards, something stands on the windowsill or in the flower bed that really belongs to your home.

Material & finish

The mole is made of 3 mm thick plywood and laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. This gives it smooth edges with the typical brown laser edge. This edge is a hallmark of laser cutting and gives the silhouette a fine outline. The wood is untreated, so it is neither varnished nor glazed. Paint, glue and oil stick directly to the surface. As a natural material, plywood is never completely uniform. Differences in shade, variations in the grain and small knots are normal. They are not a flaw. They are what makes every piece unique.

How to use the wooden mole

  • Crafting with children: Each child paints their own mole. At the end, they proudly take home an animal they designed themselves.
  • As garden decoration: A large mole with a weatherproof coat peeks out between the beds. It's sure to make visitors smile.
  • As a small gift: Add some writing and the mole becomes a handmade Mother's Day or Father's Day present. It says more than any shop-bought card.
  • In nurseries, schools or craft groups: With a set in one size, the whole group can start at the same time. No cutting and no preparation the evening before.
  • For shops or cafés: Small moles as table scatter on the counter or in the shop window set a friendly nature theme. They're quick to arrange and easy to swap.

Good to know about the mole

The Czech cartoon classic "The Little Mole" (Krtek) by Zdeněk Miler has been part of childhood for children all over Europe since the 1950s. Thanks to it, the animal has a very friendly image. That's why the motif works so well for children's room decorations, birthday crafts and anything to do with gardens and nature.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Simply store the untreated cutout somewhere dry. Then it keeps its shape and is ready for your next project. If the mole is going to live outdoors, a weatherproof paint or stain will protect it from moisture. That way your garden decoration will last a long time.

Options & what's included

  • Width of your choice: 3–50 cm, in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • You receive the untreated wooden cutout. Paints, ribbons and decorations shown in the product images are not included.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the mole straight away? Yes. The plywood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Acrylic paints, coloured pencils, glue or oil stick directly to the surface.

Is the cutout suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it belongs indoors. With a weatherproof paint or stain, you can also use it as garden decoration.

Why does the mole have a brown edge? The brown edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this method. Laser cutting also gives smooth edges with no finishing needed.

How tall is the mole at the width I choose? The proportions stay the same. At a width of 10 cm, the height is 5 cm. From this you can work out the height for any other width.

Does every piece look the same? The shape does, the wood doesn't. As a natural material, plywood shows differences in shade, grain and small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

What counts is the moment a child holds up their finished, painted mole and beams. Or the moment your own creation finds its place on the windowsill. Just choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
