Material & finish

The 3 mm plywood is light yet holds its shape. It's comfortable to hold, easy to paint and glues well. The laser cut gives smooth edges and the typical brown rim, which outlines the shape finely. The top carries the partly cut contours. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed, so it takes paint well. As a natural material, every piece shows its own grain, varying light tones and sometimes small knots. This isn't a flaw. It's what makes each piece unique. The wooden microwave is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Good to know about the microwave

If you search for wood in the microwave, you'll usually get the same advice. Heating a wooden board in the microwave isn't a good idea, because the material can dry out and crack. Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store it somewhere dry and dust it with a dry cloth when needed. Avoid constant moisture, as the wood is untreated. If you paint or oil it, you give the surface extra protection. Your decoration will then stay looking well cared for over a long time.

Can I paint the wooden microwave or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated and takes paint, glue or oil well. You can design it just the way you like.

Why does the shape have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this process. It gives the silhouette a clear, fine outline.
