Maybe you're planning a craft session with the kids. Maybe you need a motif for the alpine decoration on your shelf. Or you'd like to decorate a cabin-themed evening with a wink. The marmot simply fits. This marmot wooden cutout arrives untreated and is made for your next craft idea. Paint it, stick things on it, hang it up or just stand it somewhere. A simple silhouette becomes your very own piece of decoration.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away. The wood is natural and untreated, and it takes paint well.
  • You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You save yourself the hard work of sawing by hand. The silhouette is laser-cut and has smooth edges with the typical brown rim.
  • You can supply larger craft groups or whole classes too. The cutout comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
  • You're holding a genuinely handmade piece. It's made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day

Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A motif you design yourself tells your story. Use it as a small tag on a gift, as a painted figure on the windowsill or as part of your mountain cabin decoration. The marmot stands for the Alps and nature. And when you craft with children, you get something that lasts: time spent together and a result everyone is proud of.

Material & finish

The cutout is made of 3 mm plywood. It's light enough to hang up and glue on, yet holds its shape. The silhouette is laser-cut. This gives it smooth edges with the typical brown rim, which outlines the motif finely. The wood is untreated, not varnished or stained. That's why paints, glue and oils stick reliably. As a natural material, every piece has its own grain, different shades and sometimes small knots. This isn't a flaw. It's exactly what makes each marmot one of a kind.

How to use the wooden marmot

  • Crafting with children: every child paints their own marmot. At the end, a whole colourful marmot family stands on the table.
  • As a gift tag: choose a small size and write a name on it. Your present carries a personal hint on the outside before it's even unwrapped.
  • In alpine and cabin decoration: put a large marmot on a shelf or windowsill. The mountain theme then runs visibly through the room.
  • For shop windows, cafés or market stalls: combine several sizes and add lettering. In a few minutes you have a display people will recognise.
  • In school, nursery or craft groups: with the set of 25, 50 or 100 you have enough blanks for any group size. No cutting, no preparation.

Good to know about the marmot

The marmot has its own holiday. On 2 February, North America celebrates Groundhog Day, made famous by the film "Groundhog Day". Here, the animal is seen as a symbol of the Alps. That's why the silhouette suits mountain motifs, holiday memories and cabin decoration. It also works as a tongue-in-cheek gift for 2 February.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Simply store the untreated wood in a dry place and wipe it with a dry cloth when needed. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to use the marmot outdoors, protect it with varnish or oil first. That way the surface stays looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the marmot straight away? Yes. The wood is untreated, so neither varnished nor stained. Paints, pens, glue and oils hold directly on the surface.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The silhouette is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim, which gives the motif a clean, finely drawn outline. The edges are smooth.

Do all cutouts look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, every piece has its own grain, different shades and sometimes small knots. Each marmot is one of a kind.

How wide is the marmot? The width depends on the height. For example, at 10 cm tall the cutout is 7 cm wide.

Is the cutout suitable for outdoors? Untreated, it belongs indoors. For outdoor use, protect it with varnish or oil first so the wood isn't exposed to constant moisture.

A piece of plywood becomes something you made yourself. Picture your hand-painted marmot on the shelf, and you think: that's exactly how I wanted it. Just choose your size – you design the rest.
