A touch of holiday on your windowsill, nautical table decorations for a christening or a crafting afternoon with the children – sometimes all that's missing is the right motif. This plywood shell brings the sea into your home. It is untreated, smoothly laser-cut and ready for your ideas, made for your next decorating project. Paint it, stick things on it or leave it natural – the simple cutout becomes your very own little piece of coastline.

What changes for you

  • Start painting, sticking or writing straight away – the wood is untreated and takes paint, glue and oil well.
  • You get exactly the size that suits your project – with widths from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your shell and wood decor looks clean and neat. The laser-cut edges are smooth and have the typical fine brown rim.
  • You don't need to order pieces one by one for bigger projects. The shell is also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
  • You can hand it to children. There are no rough cut edges to catch on when crafting with kids.

Why this wooden shell makes a difference day to day

Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A blank, on the other hand, becomes whatever you make of it: table scatter on the festive table, a place name card or a gift tag. With its light, smooth wooden surface, the natural material suits seaside themes as well as simple home decor. With little effort, you create a result that you design entirely to your taste.

Material & finish

The shell is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. That gives it smooth edges with the characteristic brown rim, which outlines the motif finely. The wood is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint it, oil it or stick things onto it. Every piece is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a natural material, so it may turn out lighter or darker. It occasionally shows small irregularities or knots in the grain. That is exactly what makes every piece unique.

How to use the wooden shell

  • Crafting with children: Everyone paints their own shell – and in the end a colourful underwater world hangs in the children's room.
  • For a christening or communion: Small shells as table scatter or name cards on the table – and the table reflects the theme of the day.
  • Crafting money gifts: A labelled shell on the holiday fund for a wedding – and the envelope gets an individual, handmade design.
  • In a café, ice cream parlour or holiday flat: Large shells up to 50 cm as wall or shop window decoration. You get a seaside feel without major alterations. With a set, you can quickly decorate several areas.
  • As a hanging decoration: Add a small hole and hang it on a gift, a key rack or a home-made dreamcatcher – a detail people like to take a closer look at.

Good to know about the shell

The shell is one of the oldest Christian symbols. At baptism, water is traditionally scooped with a shell. For centuries, the scallop shell has been the sign of pilgrims on the Way of St James. That's why the motif suits not only seaside summer decor. It also fits christenings and communions, or serves as a memento of a pilgrimage.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Since the wood is untreated, it keeps its natural look for a long time when stored dry. Avoid constant moisture. For outdoor use or damp rooms, you can paint or oil the shell first. That way it stays looking good for longer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the shell or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, oil it, stick things on it or decorate it in other ways.

How tall is the shell at a given width? For reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 4.5 cm. The other sizes follow the same proportions.

Are the edges cleanly cut? Yes. The shell is laser-cut, so the edges are smooth and have the typical fine brown rim.

Why do the shells look different? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece – every shell is unique.

Are there quantity discounts with sets? You can order the shell singly or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 – ideal for larger craft groups or commercial decorating.

A wooden cutout is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your own shell lies on the christening table. Or when the children proudly hold up their painted work. Simply choose your size and quantity – you design the rest.
