Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A rainy afternoon, and the kids are sitting at the kitchen table. Luckily you have something in the drawer that gets everyone in the mood for crafting. It's a papa elephant wooden cutout, just waiting to be painted, decorated or hung up. This plywood elephant is made for crafting afternoons together. Use it in the children's room, on garlands or as a lovely detail on a greeting card. A simple piece of wood becomes a small creation that lasts.
What changes for you
- You can start straight away with no preparation. The wood is untreated. You can paint, glue, varnish or oil it right away.
- Your design looks finished even before you start. The contour cuts trace the outline and face of the papa elephant in fine detail.
- You'll find the right size for every idea. The elephant is available from 5 cm to 50 cm wide in 1 cm steps. That covers everything from card motifs to wall decorations.
- Working with it is easy and needs no finishing. The laser-cut edges are smooth. Nothing needs sanding.
- Planning bigger projects is easy too. Whether it's a garland, a children's party or a shop window, the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are enough for lots of hands.
Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day
Ready-made decorations just get hung up. Ones you make yourself tell a story. With the papa elephant you create something that is really yours. Paint it in the children's favourite colours, match it to the children's room or use it as a personal message on a card. Natural wood has a calm look that printed cardboard doesn't. And every finished piece shows the hand that made it.
Material & finish
The elephant is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical fine brown edge. It's a sign of clean laser work and outlines the shape. The top shows the contour cuts with the face and outline. The underside is left natural. The wood is neither varnished nor glazed, so paints and glue stick reliably. As a natural material, every piece is unique. Brightness, grain and small knots vary. This isn't a flaw. It's simply what makes wood look alive. The cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the papa elephant
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own elephant. In the end, a colourful herd hangs in the children's room, and everyone is proud of it.
- Making a Father's Day gift: A small papa elephant, painted by little hands and glued onto a card. No shop-bought present can replace it.
- For a birth or christening: Thread several elephants onto a string. Now a garland hangs above the changing table that really suits the room.
- In the window: Hang a larger elephant on its own as a window picture. It greets passers-by from outside.
- In a shop or café: With the sets of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can decorate your shop window or counter in a uniform style. It's quick to set up. You can swap in a seasonal motif whenever you like.
Good to know about the elephant
In many cultures, the elephant is a symbol of good luck, strength and close family ties. After all, elephants live in tight-knit herds. That's exactly why the papa elephant suits family occasions so well: a birth, a christening or a homemade Father's Day gift.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. As the plywood is untreated, just store the cutout somewhere dry and avoid constant moisture. If you want to protect the design for the long term, you can varnish or oil it. That way the elephant stays looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the elephant straight away? Yes. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glue and oils stick without any preparation.
Where does the brown edge come from? The cutout is laser-cut. The fine brown edge forms naturally in the process and outlines the silhouette.
Do both sides look the same? No. The top has the contour cuts with the face and outline. The underside is left natural.
Why do the elephants look different? Wood is a natural material. Brightness, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That makes every elephant unique.
The best part is the moment your child holds up their finished elephant and beams. Just choose your width, single or as a set. Then the crafting afternoon can begin.
