Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day
A ready-made shape takes care of the most time-consuming part: sawing it out. You start straight away with the fun part – choose a colour, decorate, hang it up or stand it up. That way an idea turns into a result you can see more quickly. It might go in the window, on the wall or on the laid table. And because wood looks warm and natural, the motif blends quietly into the room rather than pushing itself to the front.
Material & finish
The papaya is made of 3 mm plywood and laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives smooth edges and the characteristic brown rim, which nicely emphasises the outline. The wood is untreated – not varnished or glazed. This means paints and glue adhere well. As a purely natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Variations in shade, fine grain structures and small knots are normal. They make each piece one of a kind and are not a defect.

How to use the wooden papaya
- Crafting with children on a rainy afternoon: each child paints their own papaya – and in the end a colourful fruit garland hangs in the children's room.
- In the kitchen: a few small cutouts on the shelf or window frame – and your decorations show fruit and colour without looking cluttered.
- As a gift tag: tie a small papaya with a written message to your little gift – and the present looks lovingly made before it's even opened.
- In the café, at the fruit stall or at the weekly market: large cutouts on the counter or in the shop window – quick to put up and instantly recognisable as a theme.
- For schools, nurseries and craft groups: with a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, there's a blank for everyone – without you having to saw anything yourself.
Good to know about the papaya
The papaya originally comes from the tropics of Central America. Like hardly any other fruit, it stands for summer and holiday mood. That's exactly why its silhouette works so well for summery window decorations, themed parties or displaying fruit and fresh produce in a shop.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated cutouts in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture. Then they will keep their shape and light appearance for a long time. If you'd like to protect the papaya permanently, you can simply paint, oil or glaze it. In its natural state, the wood is well prepared for this.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the wooden papaya or stick things on it? Yes. The plywood is untreated, not varnished or glazed. This means paints, glue and oils adhere well to the surface.
Why does the cutout have a brown rim? The papaya is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim, which emphasises the outline. The edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
Do all the cutouts look exactly the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it shows variations in shade, fine grain and occasionally small knots – every piece is one of a kind.
Is the papaya suitable for outdoor use? The wood is untreated and belongs in dry indoor spaces. For outdoor use, you should protect it first with a suitable paint or oil.
A plain blank becomes your very own decoration – painted, embellished and hung exactly where it shows you a bit of summer every day. Simply choose your size and quantity – and get started.
