- No finishing work before painting – the laser cut leaves smooth edges.

- You are holding a piece made in Germany – every peace sign is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why this peace sign makes a difference every day
Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere – a peace sign you've designed yourself tells your own story. Whether brightly painted in a child's bedroom, left natural on the wall or used as a motif at a peace event: the symbol brings a calm, clear message into the room without shouting. And because you choose the size and design yourself, it fits in exactly where you want it.
Material & finish
The peace sign is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood and has the characteristic brown edge – a hallmark of laser cutting that gives the shape a finely drawn outline. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean, so you can start decorating right away. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed: colour variations, differences in shade and small knots are part of the natural material and make every piece unique – not a flaw, but character.

How to use the peace sign
- Crafting with children: every child paints their own peace sign – and at the end, a colourful row of home-made peace symbols hangs in the classroom or bedroom.
- As wall decor at home: a large peace sign in 40 or 50 cm, left natural or oiled – giving your wall a calm, natural focal point.
- For peace services, project days or events: with the set of 50 or 100 you can supply a whole group – everyone designs their own sign, and setting up is quick.
- On a gift: a small peace symbol in 5 or 8 cm as a tag on the parcel – so the wrapping says something personal before it's even opened.
- For shop window or in-store displays: combine several sizes to create a complete motif display that you can use all year round.
Good to know about the peace sign
The peace sign was designed in 1958 by British artist Gerald Holtom for the nuclear disarmament movement – the shape combines the semaphore letters N and D for "Nuclear Disarmament". Today it stands for peace and understanding all over the world, which makes it ideal not only as decoration but also for school projects, memorial days and peace events.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: keep the untreated wood dry and avoid constant moisture, and it will keep its shape and look for a long time. If you'd like to use it outdoors, it's best to protect it beforehand with paint, varnish or oil.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the peace sign? Yes. The wood is untreated and takes paint, glue and oil directly – no sanding or priming needed.
Why does the wood have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this cutting method. It ensures smooth edges and a finely defined outline.
Do all the signs look the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't: as a natural material, plywood shows different shades, fine textures and occasionally small knots – every piece is unique.
How do width and height relate to each other? Both dimensions are the same: if you choose a width of 10 cm, for example, the peace sign is also 10 cm high.
Is the peace sign suitable for outdoor use? Yes, with a protective coat of paint, varnish or oil – untreated, it's better kept indoors, away from constant moisture.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the moment your home-made peace sign hangs on the wall and says exactly what matters to you. Simply choose your size – individually or as a set – and start creating.
