Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The craft table is set. Paints and brushes are ready. All that's missing is a motif worth showing off. This plywood phoenix brings the silhouette of the firebird to your home, already cut to shape. It is untreated, has smooth edges and comes in your chosen height from 5 to 50 cm. Just right for your next crafting afternoon. Paint it, cover it or decorate it in its natural state – it's entirely up to you.
What changes for you
- You can start creating straight away, with no saw or template. The phoenix arrives neatly laser-cut and ready to use.
- You decide how big your motif will be. You can choose the height from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps. So the phoenix works for anything from a gift tag to wall decoration.
- Your paints, varnishes and oils hold reliably – because the wood is untreated and nothing seals the surface.
- No sanding needed. The laser-cut edges are smooth and ready to use, even when crafting with children.
- Plan bigger projects with ease. Order singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces. That way you get the right amount for any group size.
Why this wooden phoenix makes a difference
A motif made of real wood feels different from one made of paper or plastic. It is warmer and nicer to hold. Its slightly rough surface takes paint evenly. You are holding a piece of natural material that accepts any colour. It gives your idea a solid base. A simple crafting afternoon becomes a small handmade piece. You can hang it up, give it away or display it in new ways again and again.
Material & finish
The phoenix is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood. It has the typical brown edge, which traces the outline of the motif finely. The surface is untreated – not varnished, not stained. So you can paint, cover, coat or oil it however you like. Wood is a purely natural material. Its shade and grain vary. Small knots or slight irregularities are part of it and make every piece one of a kind. The cutout is carefully made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden phoenix
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own firebird. At the end of the afternoon, everyone takes a small work of art home.
- As a gift for a fresh start: Add a painted phoenix to a greetings card or gift ribbon. Your present tells a story before it is even unwrapped.
- As wall or window decoration: Choose a large phoenix in 40 or 50 cm and paint it in your favourite colours. Your wall then shows a one-off piece that exists nowhere else.
- At nursery, at school or in a craft group: With a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you have identical blanks for the whole project. No hours of cutting beforehand.
- For fantasy and themed parties: Use small phoenixes as table decoration or as tags for place cards. Your guests have something to discover as soon as they sit down.
Good to know about the phoenix
Since ancient times, the phoenix has been a symbol of new beginnings. According to legend, the bird burns and rises again, renewed, from its ashes. That's why the motif works well as a sign of courage and fresh starts. For example, as a handmade gift for a new start, a recovery or a passed exam.
Care & durability
It needs very little care. Keep the untreated cutout dry and simply wipe off dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid constant moisture. That way the natural material keeps its shape and appearance for a long time. If you want to protect the phoenix permanently, you can paint, oil or varnish it after decorating.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the cutout is untreated – neither varnished nor stained. So you can paint, cover, coat or oil it straight away.
Why does the phoenix have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this cutting method. It traces the outline finely. It also gives smooth edges that need no finishing.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it varies in shade and grain. Small knots are normal. This is exactly what makes every piece one of a kind.
How wide is the phoenix? The width depends on the height you choose. For example, at a height of 10 cm it is 7.5 cm wide.
Is the cutout suitable for crafting with children? Yes. The laser-cut edges are smooth, and the untreated plywood takes paint well. Ideal for craft projects together.
