Wooden plectrum or plectron – cutout for crafting

A guitarist's birthday, a music school graduation or simply a themed crafting afternoon: a wooden plectrum brings music straight into your decorations. The laser-cut cutouts are made from 3 mm poplar plywood. They reach you untreated, ready for your own ideas. You paint them, stick things on them or write on them. The plectrum is made from 3 mm poplar plywood and is cleanly laser-cut. This gives it smooth edges and the typical brown edge, which outlines the shape clearly. The surface is untreated, not varnished and not glazed. Paint, glue and oils take well, and you decide on the finish. Wood is a natural material. Differences in shade, fine patterns in the grain and small knots are part of it. They make every piece unique and are not a defect.

Good to know about the plectrum

Plectrum or plectron – both words are correct. They go back to the Greek word for a "striking tool": the small piece used to play string instruments such as the guitar or mandolin. That is why the shape is such a popular decoration for anything to do with music, from guitar lessons to band parties. Care & durability

There's not much to do. Keep the untreated wood dry and avoid lasting moisture. Your plectrum will then keep its shape and natural look for a long time. If you oil or paint it, you give the surface extra protection and your own finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play the guitar with it? No. This cutout is a decoration and craft item made from 3 mm plywood. It is not suitable for playing string instruments.

Is the wood treated? No, it is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint, cover, coat or oil it as you like.

Is it plectrum or plectron? Both are in use. They mean the same shape, also known as a pick.

Why is the edge brown? The cutouts are laser-cut. The brown edge forms naturally in the process and also gives smooth edges.

Do all pieces look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it shows different shades, fine grain and small knots. Every piece is unique.
