You've got the craft idea and a clear table – all that's missing is the right base shape. That's exactly what wooden squares with rounded corners are for: a clean, calm surface of unfinished plywood that you can paint, decorate with stickers or glue, or simply use as table scatter on a laid table. With sizes from 1x1 to 60x60 cm, you'll find the format that feels made for your next project.

What changes for you

  • You get exactly the size your project needs – because every wooden square can be chosen from 1x1 to 60x60 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your paints, varnishes and oils go straight on – because the wood is unfinished, with no varnish or glaze.
  • You can carry on without sandpaper – thanks to smooth laser-cut edges with the typical brown rim that gives every piece a subtle frame.
  • Your table decoration looks soft rather than angular. That's because the corners are rounded. The small sizes can be scattered safely as table scatter.
  • You'll have plenty in stock for bigger projects – depending on size, the squares come in packs of 10 to 100.

Why these wooden squares make a difference every day

An even wooden square is a rewarding canvas: there's nothing to saw and nothing to finish off, so you can get started straight away – with a brush, glue or a pen. On the table, the natural wood surface brings calm to your decoration, and in the craft basket there's always a ready-made base shape waiting. That way, an idea turns more quickly into a result you'll be happy to show off.

Material & finish

Each square is made of 3 mm plywood. It is light enough for table scatter and tags. As a larger square board, it is also sturdy enough for painting and gluing things on. The squares are laser-cut in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. They are cleanly finished with smooth edges. The wood stays in its natural state. It varies in shade, shows a lively grain and may have small knots. That makes every piece unique – it is not a flaw.

How to use the wooden squares

  • Crafting with children: paint small squares, decorate them, hang them up – and at the end, every child has their own creation in their hands.
  • On the festive table: scatter a few mini squares between candles and napkins. Your table looks calm and tidy without seeming cluttered.
  • In model making: precisely fitting cutouts as base plates or building elements – you skip the sawing and get straight to the details.
  • As a surface for painting and lettering: paint or write on larger sizes – and you've got a personalised sign for your home or as a gift.
  • In the café, at the weekly market or in shop displays: use the squares as labelled price and variety signs or as a base in your display – your goods look lovingly presented, and new signs are quick to make.

Good to know about plywood

Plywood is made of several cross-glued layers of wood – which makes it far more dimensionally stable than a solid wood board of the same thickness, and it hardly warps. That's exactly why the squares are so pleasant to paint and decorate: the surface stays flat, even when paint or glue adds moisture.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do: store the unfinished wooden squares in a dry place and avoid prolonged moisture – that way they stay flat and keep their light, natural surface. If you want to use them outdoors, you can paint, oil or varnish them beforehand.

Options & what's included

  • Sizes from 1x1 cm to 60x60 cm, freely selectable in 1 cm steps
  • Available in packs of 10 to 100, depending on size
  • All squares unfinished and natural – ready for painting, decorating, oiling or staining

Frequently asked questions

Are the wooden squares treated? No, the wood is left natural – neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint, decorate, oil or stain it straight away.

Where does the brown rim on the edges come from? The squares are laser-cut. This creates the typical dark laser rim – the edges are smooth and don't need sanding.

Why do the squares look different from one another? Wood is a purely natural material: shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. That's exactly what makes every square unique.

Are the squares suitable for outdoor use? Unfinished, they belong in a dry place. For outdoor use, you should protect them beforehand with paint, oil or varnish.

Which sizes can I order? From 1x1 cm to 60x60 cm – in 1 cm steps, in packs of 10 to 100 depending on size.

In the end, it's not about a piece of plywood. It's about the moment a plain wooden surface becomes your own little creation – painted, lettered or scattered across a laid table. Simply choose your size and get started.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer free repair or free replacement; in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement. Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.
