Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The craft afternoon is planned and the paints are ready. All that's missing is a blank that plays along: smooth, sturdy and already fitted with a hanging hole. These wooden squares with rounded corners and a hole in one corner are made for your next craft idea. Just choose the right size from 1 to 60 cm and get started. Use them for tags, name signs or a garland.
What changes for you
- You can hang them up straight away instead of drilling first. Thanks to the 3 mm hole in the corner, you thread ribbon or string right through.
- Crafting is more relaxed, even with children. The edges are laser-cut and smooth. The rounded corners have no sharp points.
- Your ideas aren't tied to a standard size. You choose your square from 1 x 1 cm to 60 x 60 cm in 1 cm steps, exactly as your project needs it.
- You design them just the way you like. The untreated wood takes paint, oil, varnish and glue well.
- You get clean, even cutouts. They are laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why these wooden squares make a difference every day
A good blank makes every craft project easier to start. You don't need to saw, sand or pre-drill anything. You can focus entirely on designing. Making Christmas decorations with the family, crafting money gifts for the next wedding or a mobile for the nursery: the square with a hanging hole is the base on which your idea takes shape. And because you choose the size freely, it works for a small gift tag just as well as for a large door sign.
Material & finish
The squares are laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This makes the edges smooth. They have the typical brown laser edge, which gives the cutouts a handmade look. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint, decorate, coat or oil it as you like. As a purely natural material, wood is never completely uniform. Different shades, fine structures in the grain and small knots are part of it. They make each piece one of a kind and are not a defect.

How to use the wooden squares
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own square. In the end, a colourful garland hangs in the window and everyone is proud of it.
- During Advent: you write numbers on small squares. Your homemade Advent calendar gets tags you can use again every year.
- For a wedding or christening: a name on each tag at every place setting. Your guests find their seat and also take a small keepsake home.
- For money gifts: you glue folded notes onto the painted square or thread it onto the gift box as a tag. The envelope becomes a gift with its own personality.
- In the café or at the weekly market: labelled squares as price tags or variety labels on baskets and shelves. They look uniform and natural. They are quick to swap when your range changes.
- In model making: as a base plate or component in exactly the size your project needs. No sawing required.
Good to know about plywood
Plywood is made of several layers of wood glued crosswise. This makes it more dimensionally stable than a plain solid wood board of the same thickness. It also warps much less. That is why the 3 mm thin squares work so well as tags, signs and garland pieces. They stay flat, even when painted or decorated.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated squares in a dry place, and they will keep their shape and light colour. For use outdoors or in damp rooms, you can paint, varnish or oil the wood beforehand. This keeps your decorations looking good for longer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the wooden squares? Yes. The plywood is untreated and can be coated, painted, glued or oiled. Paint adheres directly to the natural surface.
Why do the edges have a brown rim? The squares are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown laser edge. It also makes the edges smooth, so they don't need sanding.
How big is the hole in the corner? The hole has a diameter of 3 mm. Ribbons, string and thin wire thread through easily.
Do all squares look exactly the same? Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary from piece to piece. This makes every square one of a kind.
A wooden square is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your idea hangs finished in front of you. Painted, lettered, threaded. And looking just the way you imagined it. Simply choose your size and get started.
