Why these wooden squares make a difference every day
A consistent, reliable basic shape takes the tedious part off your hands – no sawing, no measuring, no smoothing. That leaves your time for what really matters: creating. Whether you're making a money gift for a wedding, Christmas decorations during Advent or table decorations for a birthday – with wooden squares for crafts, you go straight to the creative part.
Material & finish
The squares are laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. That gives them smooth edges and the typical fine brown rim, which frames each piece subtly. The wood is completely untreated. You can glue things onto it, paint it, oil it or decorate it with colours. Wood is a purely natural material, so the squares vary slightly in shade and grain. Small knots may also appear. This makes every piece unique – not a flaw, but character. The cutouts are made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck.

How to use the wooden squares
- Crafting with children in the afternoon: each child paints their own square – and proudly takes a little work of art home at the end.
- During Advent: scatter small squares across the festive table as table scatter. Or turn them into hanging decorations and cards when doing Christmas crafts with children. The light plywood goes well with the rest of your Christmas decorations.
- Making a Mother's Day or Father's Day gift: a lettered square as a personal gift tag – and the parcel looks lovingly made rather than quickly bought.
- Making money gifts: glue or fold notes onto a painted square – and an envelope becomes a little gift in its own right.
- In model building: precisely fitting base plates and panels in exactly the size your project needs – without cutting by hand.
- In a café, at the weekly market or in a shop: lettered squares as price tags or product labels – uniform, natural and set up in minutes.
Good to know about laser-cut wooden cutouts
The brown edge on laser-cut wooden cutouts comes from the heat of the laser beam – it isn't a blemish but the hallmark of a precise cut. When decorating, you can deliberately leave it as a fine outline, for example on hanging decorations and table scatter, or simply paint over it if you want a solid area of colour.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: store the untreated squares somewhere dry and protect them from constant moisture – that way they keep their shape and their light, natural look. For use outdoors or in damp rooms, you can paint or oil the wood beforehand.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the wooden squares or glue things onto them? Yes. The plywood is untreated – you can paint, oil, glue, stamp and decorate it.
Why do the squares have a brown edge? The edge is created during laser cutting and is typical of this type of cut. It also gives you smooth edges without splinters.
Do all the squares look the same? Not quite: wood is a natural material and varies in shade and grain, and small knots are normal. Every piece is unique.
How thick are the squares? The material thickness is 3 mm – sturdy enough for crafting, decorating and model building.
Can I combine different sizes? Yes, you can choose each size from 1x1 to 50x50 cm individually and put together exactly the mix your project needs.
In the end, it's not about plywood and measurements. It's about the afternoon when a few simple squares become painted hanging decorations, table scatter and little gifts – and everyone at the table joins in. Just choose your size and quantity and get started.
