- You hold a piece with character in your hands. Every jellyfish is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck and shows its own wood grain.
Why this wooden jellyfish makes a difference in everyday life
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A jellyfish you have designed yourself tells the story of the afternoon it was made. Maybe you made it together with your children. Maybe it was part of getting ready for the summer party, or a new window decoration for the holidays. Plywood also feels different from painted cardboard or plastic. It is light, easy to grip and smells of fresh wood.
Material & finish
The jellyfish is made of 3 mm plywood and is laser-cut. That is why it has smooth edges and the typical brown rim, which gives the motif a finely drawn outline. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It takes paint, glue and oils well. As a natural material, it is not always uniform. Brightness and grain vary, and small knots or impurities may occur. This is exactly what makes each piece unique – not a flaw, but character. Made cleanly and carefully in Thuringia, Germany.

How to use the wooden jellyfish
- Crafting with children: Each child paints their own jellyfish. In the end, a whole colourful swarm floats at the window.
- For the nursery: Thread several jellyfish in different sizes into a mobile. This creates a little underwater world above the bed.
- For an ocean-themed party: Put a small jellyfish at every seat as a place card. Your guests will have something to smile about as soon as they sit down.
- In a café or shop: Hang them up quickly as window decorations for the summer season. The seaside mood is set without much effort.
- For nurseries, schools or holiday clubs: The set of 25 or 50 covers the whole group. One project, one motif, lots of individual results.
Good to know about the jellyfish
Jellyfish seem to float weightlessly through the water. This lightness is why the motif is so popular for mobiles and hanging decorations. Hung on a thread, the wooden silhouette turns gently in the draught. It almost looks as if it were gliding through the room on its own.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. In dry indoor spaces, the untreated wood keeps its shape and looks good for a long time. Avoid constant damp and wet conditions. Or protect the jellyfish beforehand with paint, varnish or oil as you wish. Then you will enjoy your motif for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the jellyfish or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated and takes acrylic paints, watercolours, glue and oils well. You can also apply fabric or paper.
Why does the jellyfish have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. The brown edge forms naturally during this process. It also gives you smooth edges without any finishing work.
Does every jellyfish look exactly the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, it varies in brightness and grain, and small knots are normal. This makes each piece unique.
How wide is the jellyfish at the height I choose? The proportions stay the same. At a height of 10 cm, the jellyfish is 6 cm wide. From this, you can work out the width for any other height.
What counts is the moment your own jellyfish floats at the window and you think: we made that. Simply choose your height and quantity – and get started.
