Why this rubber duck makes a difference in everyday life
A duck you've decorated yourself is more than just a piece of wood: in the nursery window, on the bathroom door or on a present, it tells of the time someone took to make it. Instead of mass-produced shop-bought decorations, you create something that truly suits you and your home. And because the design is so familiar, it brings a smile to the faces of young and old almost automatically.
Material & finish
The duckling is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it smooth edges and the typical brown rim. The rim gives the motif a finely drawn outline. The surface is untreated, not varnished and not glazed. So you can paint, colour, oil or glue things onto your duck, just as you like. Wood is a purely natural material. Some pieces are lighter, some darker. They show different textures and small knots in the grain. This is exactly what makes every piece unique. Every duck is neatly made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Good to know about the rubber duck
The yellow rubber duck became truly famous in 1970, when Ernie sang his song about his “Rubber Duckie” on Sesame Street – since then it has been part of childhood for generations. That's exactly why the design works so well: every child recognises it instantly, and it brings back fond memories for adults – ideal for a child's bedroom, a birthday or a christening.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do: keep the untreated wood dry and protect it from prolonged moisture, and the surface will stay looking good for a long time. If you paint or oil the duck, you also give it a more durable finish – depending on where you use it and your personal taste.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the duck straight away? Yes. The plywood is untreated, with no varnish or glaze – you can paint it, oil it or stick things on without having to sand it first.
Why does the duck have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge that gives the design a clear outline – while the edges stay smooth.
How tall is the duck at a particular width? As a guide: at 10 cm wide, it is 9.5 cm tall. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Does every duck look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite: as a natural material, it can be lighter or darker and may show small irregularities or knots in the grain. This isn't a flaw – it makes every piece unique.
In the end, it's not about a wooden cutout. It's about the moment the freshly painted duck sits on the windowsill and someone proudly says: “I made that.” Simply choose your size – singly or as a set – and get started.
