Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A craft afternoon with the kids, a school project on the Pied Piper of Hamelin or some spooky Halloween decorations: sometimes you are missing exactly the motif that turns an idea into something you can hold. Our wooden rat V2 is just that kind of blank. It is a cleanly cut plywood silhouette, made for your next craft evening. You paint it, decorate it or oil it just the way you like. And the untreated cutout becomes your very own piece of decoration.
What changes for you
- You can start designing straight away instead of sawing by hand – because the wooden rat arrives laser-cut and ready to use.
- Your paints, pens and glue hold well – because the plywood is left natural. It is suitable for painting, decorating, staining or oiling.
- You will find the right size for every project – from a small 3 cm table scatter to a large 50 cm wide wall decoration. You can choose the width in 1 cm steps.
- Children's hands can work with it comfortably too – thanks to the smooth laser-cut edges with no frayed rims.
- Crafting with children, in a school class or for shop decorations, you won't run out of motifs – because you can order the rat individually or as a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Why this wooden rat makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut motif takes care of the hardest part for you. You don't have to trace templates, saw or sand. You can focus fully on designing. A free afternoon becomes a relaxed craft project. And at the end, there is a figure on your shelf, windowsill or in your shop window that you really made yourself.
Material & finish
The silhouette is made of 3 mm thick plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives a clean, precise outline and smooth edges – you can start painting right away. The wood is untreated, not lacquered and not glazed. Paints and oils soak in well and adhere reliably. Wood is a natural material and never completely uniform. Differences in shade, fine structures in the grain and small knots are normal. They make every piece one of a kind.

How to use the wooden rat
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own rat – and after an hour, a whole colourful gang of rats is standing on the table.
- At Halloween: paint several silhouettes black and spread them across the windowsill or stairs – and your entrance turns into a spooky scene.
- For school, theatre or fairy-tale projects: the rats accompany the Pied Piper of Hamelin as scenery or a craft motif – in sizes from small to strikingly large.
- For Christmas crafts or Christmas cards: decorate small cutouts, glue them on or tie them to presents – so every parcel has an individual detail.
- In a shop, a pet shop or at the weekly market: order a set, decorate it all the same way and put it out quickly – your themed display looks neat with little effort.
Good to know about the rat
The rat has a firm place in storytelling thanks to the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. It has been passed down for centuries. It is still alive today in books, plays and school projects. That is exactly why the motif works not only for Halloween. It also suits fairy-tale themes, stage sets and classroom projects.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated wood in a dry place, and it will keep its shape and light colour for a long time. For use outdoors or in damp rooms, it is best to paint or oil the surface first. This protects the natural material and keeps your decoration looking good for longer.
