- The typical brown laser edge gives the caterpillar a fine, clear outline. This makes the shape stand out clearly.
Why this wooden caterpillar makes a difference every day
A wooden caterpillar looks good in a child's bedroom, on the windowsill or on a seasonal table. It shows the visible grain of the plywood instead of a plastic look. When crafting with children, the ready-made outline gives them something to work with. Nobody needs to be able to draw or saw. And yet everyone ends up with something of their own. An afternoon at the kitchen table becomes a small shared project with a result you'll be happy to show off.
Material & finish
The cutout is made of 3 mm thick plywood. It's light enough to hang up and sturdy enough to stand and decorate. The edges are cleanly laser cut and smooth. So the caterpillar feels pleasant in the hand and is easy to work with. The wood is untreated and takes paint, glue or oil well. Please note: wood is a purely natural material. Every caterpillar turns out slightly different. Some are lighter, some darker, with fine patterns in the grain and occasionally small knots. That's what makes each piece unique. The cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

Good to know about caterpillars
Hardly any animal stands for transformation as much as the caterpillar, which eventually becomes a butterfly. Ever since the classic picture book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", children have known this story inside out. That's why the motif suits children's birthday parties, nursery projects and spring decorations so well. It also fits any occasion that celebrates a new beginning.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated cutouts in a dry place and protect them from constant moisture. That way, the shape and surface stay in good condition for a long time. If you want to display the caterpillar outdoors or in damp rooms, simply seal it with paint, varnish or oil of your choice.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the caterpillar comes untreated. It is not varnished or glazed. You can paint, decorate, coat or oil it straight away.
How is the brown edge created? The cutout is laser cut. This creates the typical brown edge, which gives the shape a clear outline.
How tall is the caterpillar at my chosen width? For reference: at a width of 10 cm, the height is 5 cm. The proportions stay the same for all sizes.
Do all caterpillars look the same? The shape does, the wood not quite. As a natural material, plywood can be lighter or darker. It may show small knots or patterns in the grain. This is normal and makes every piece unique.
What counts is the moment a child holds up their own painted caterpillar and beams. Simply choose your size and quantity. Then the next craft afternoon can begin.
